This sectionals weekend had games where players put on a show for their teams. Some of these players put their teams on their backs and carried them to the victory. There were a lot of electric plays where the fans were not disappointed who were in attendance. Check out my brief recap below.

11/16/24 East Rochester vs Le Roy:

It was a game where it was won on the backs of QB [player_tooltip player_id='505538' first='Ben' last='Newman'] and RB Cadearell Sneed Jr. for East Rochester as they won 26 to 13 over Le Roy. In the first quarter, Sneed Jr. was able to rip a 47-yard run to then set up a 10-yard score by [player_tooltip player_id='505538' first='Ben' last='Newman']. Later on, Sneed Jr. was able to rip another 40-yard gain as he bounced to the outside after finding his lane through the LOS. It was a very smooth run where the ball vision by Sneed Jr. stood out at an elite level. On 3rd & 7 of that drive, Newman was able to hit Sneed Jr. while under pressure to have him walk into the endzone. The final touchdown to put the game away was on a 4th & 3 where Newman was able to connect with WR [player_tooltip player_id='1283628' first='Noah' last='Mather'] who made a great catch and spun around two defenders to break into the endzone. East Rochester will now move onto regionals for that 11/23 date.

11/16/24 Brighton vs Canandaigua:

After having a close battle with Monroe the week before, Brighton was able to defeat Canandaigua in this matchup with the final score of 28 to 7. Canandaigua was able to get on the board first, but the game turned once DB Queyanu McDermott had an INT inside the 10-yard line. The INT was a huge backbreaker for Canandaigua as they were threatening to score again. RB, [player_tooltip player_id='527732' first='Gavin' last='Parks'] then ripped off a 26-yard TD run later in the game to tie it all up. Parks was the true MVP for Brighton as they leaned on him all game, including the 83-yard TD run. Parks was able to burst through the line and then tip-toe down the sideline for the electric TD. Finally, QB Grady Hopkins put the game away on a 28-yard read option keeper. It was a huge win for Brighton as they will move onto Regionals which will take place on 11/23.

11/15/24 Aquinas Institute vs Rush Henrietta:

A huge beat-down by Aquinas Institute as they defeated Rush Henrietta 48 to 14 in this matchup. It is not often where you see two kickoff returns from TDs, but Aquinas was able to pull it off in one fast passion. The first return was by RB [player_tooltip player_id='1621904' first='Jeffery' last='Logan III'] and the second was by CB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='726199' first='Joshua' last='Ernst'] Jr. For the returns, both players outran the entire special teams' units to flip the game. QB [player_tooltip player_id='501394' first='Trent' last='Buttles'] ended the game with 2 TDs and the game was simply out of reach for Rush Henrietta. The final dagger was a fumble recovery by FS Alexis Rosado to send Aquinas to regionals on 11/22. Aquinas has proved they are the best team in Section V once again with this dominant performance.
