Plays a lot in the safety position and will at times line up as a corner. He shows good athleticism with good change of direction and acceleration to allow him to quickly get in and out of breaks as he makes reads on the ball. He can come downhill quickly, and will play physical at the point of attack. Has a quick backpedal at the start of the play to delay the receiver's closing speed. Has very good hip fluidity to run and run without losing speed. Can operate in Man and Zone coverage schemes, with good closing speed on receivers. He shows good athleticism with good hip fluidity, change of direction, and quick hands. He can play in Press and Off coverages, wants to get his hands on receivers and disrupt their routes in their release. Shows good backpedal and will quickly plant his foot and come downhill. Solid ball skills to play through the receiver's hands and disrupt the pass. At 6'2", he has good height and currently has the play weight for a DB, but he has room to add mass to his frame and can get to linebacker weight and keep his athleticism. He plays with good explosiveness and quickness, that is visible in his special teams play on punt and field goal blocks. Shows good range on the field as a defender, who has good processing to read and react to the offense and be in position to make a play. He has been a part of a resurgence of Craig County's program due in part to his elusiveness as a WR when he has the ball in his hands. Craig County likes to get the ball in his hands quickly and let him use his athleticism to make defenders miss. He also is a willing blocker in Craig County's Wing-T offense to open up the second and third level for the running backs. Craig County is going to have a nice backfield next year, and Carter will be a key piece to their run game with his good vision and elusiveness as a ball carrier. He is also a defensive back showing good range and ability to process the game to read the offense. Willing to come down in run support and is a dependable tackler.
