Other notes: No. 15 Loreauville got its revenge of a season-opening loss to No. 2 Erath to advance to its first quarterfinal appearance since back-to-back berths in 2019 and 2020. No. 4 Kinder is also back for the first time since back-to-back trips the same years, including a 2020 title-game run. The other six quarterfinalists — No. 1 St. James, No. 3 Oak Grove, No. 5 Union Parish, No. 6 Sterlington, No. 7 Jena and No. 9 Pine — are back for at least a second-straight year. Union Parish has been to the quarters every year since 2018, and Oak Grove has been every year since 2015.

Intriguing quarterfinal matchup: No. 3 Oak Grove vs. No. 6 Sterlington continues an old northeast Louisiana rivalry in the first year in decades in which they didn't meet in the regular season.

Most intriguing possible semifinal matchup: No. 1 St. James vs. No. 5 Union Parish could post a 2023 state-title rematch.
