The Litty in the City Chicagoland Showcase was led by quarterback coach Greg Holcomb of nxtlevelatx and company. On the indoor turf field at Comed Rec Center were Quarterbacks, Receivers, Tight Ends, and some defensive backs who came looking for work. And work was what they got. Within two hours each participant went through a gauntlet of drills, competition, and situational group work. There were players who separated themselves at each position. Let's look at the top quarterbacks leaving 8th grade in their rearview mirror this coming off-season.

Aleem is a high IQ player that pays attention to mechanics. His timing is pretty good on short and underneath throws. Competed well during drills and showed some leadership. Footwork is solid and puts a nice touch on each delivery. As core and arm gets stronger at the next level he will come into his own as a pocket quarterback.

Patrick is a signal caller out of the Northside with a decent build already. His drops are clean for the most part and he scans the field well. The football gets where it needs to go from his low to wide release point. Mr. Quinlan wants to get better on each rep and his work ethic will definitely carry him through high school as someone who is going to push the room he's in.

[player_tooltip player_id='1467628' first='Cody' last='Rader'] is a multi-sport product out of Geneva Middle School. He is coming off a Championship appearance with some TD throws and delivered the ball around the perimeter like a stud. You can see his confidence by getting the ball out early and understanding his strengths during drills. He connected with different receivers in the Showcase and challenged himself with driving the ball after being put through a sequence of scenarios.

Elijah comes out of Sterling and was definitely in the Top 3 QBs at the showcase. Not as tall as the other two, but drove the ball where it needed to be with good accuracy. A Baker Mayfield type with a competitive demeanor and pin point concentration at the same time. He was locked in on all the drills, showing off footwork, and nice placement with the football when it was time to connect with the wide outs. Those spirals kept coming.

The Mount Prospect Lions will be sad to see Kian move on from leading the pride next year. No worries, because he has a chance to make immediate impact at the next level once groomed appropiately. This kid will outplay you will a smile on his face while doing it. He has good mechanics, poise in the pocket, and tries to get better each rep. His approach is top notch and he can throw the route tree without hesitation. I liked his follow through and willingness to adjust to different targets.
