Sub-state action is less then 48 hours away and there are some huge match up's as teams fight for the honor of playing for a state championship.

One of the games flying under the radar is in the 2A West bracket where 9-2 Beloit travels to #1-seeded,11-0 SE Saline. It will be the battle of the Trojans and will feature some outstanding talent.

Back in September these two teams met, with SE Saline throttling Beloit 32-6, so revenge will be on the minds of the traveling Trojans.

Other than a close game in week two with a 22-20 win over Clay Center, SE Saline has crushed the competition. In their last three games they have pounded the opposition 140-27.

In this report we will take a high-level look at the two Trojan squads getting ready to square off in sub-state. So, without further adieu, let's dive in.

Beloit Trojans:

[player_tooltip player_id='780335' first='Brody' last='Litton'], 6'6, 250, TE/DL, Beloit '26, is one of the more dominating forces in western Kansas and has helped spearhead the Trojan's drive into sub-state. The junior two-way standout is already getting significant D1 attention, visiting K-State, KU, OU and Iowa State among others. On offense he is almost unstoppable in the redzone with his top-end catch radius and athleticism. On the other side of the ball he has made a name for himself as a brawling headhunter in the trenches. He is going to need to bring his A-game this week against unbeaten SE Saline.

[player_tooltip player_id='1466320' first='Joel' last='Rexroat'], 5'10, 165, RB/DB, Beloit '26, has been a versatile athlete for the Trojans all year as an explosive option out of the backfield or in the pass game. Lining up as a tailback or single set back, he makes decisive cuts with great spatial awareness. He is a dynamic force in the open field, shredding arm tackles and turning on the jets when he hits the perimeter. Earlier in the year he was stuffed at the line of scrimmage on his own five-yard line, but somehow blasted out of the pile, turned on the afterburners and scored a 95-yard TD. He needs to bring it this week.

SE Saline Trojans:

[player_tooltip player_id='1403641' first='Gannon' last='Jacobson'], 6'1, 165, QB, SE Saline '26, has been leading the charge for the undefeated Trojans all year and has been a dual-threat ace running and passing the ball. All year he has kept the top defenses in the state off balance with his killer play, firing 120 completions in 210 attempts for 1,668 yards, 26 touchdowns and only nine picks. He added 687 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on the ground. For the year he has piled up just under 2,400 yards and 34 total touchdowns. This guy is the real deal and is going to be a handful for the Beloit defense.

Kanyon Douglas, 5'10, 175, ATH, SE Saline '26, may be flying under the radar somewhat so far this year but that is going change in a hurry. The versatile athlete did a little bit of everything for the Trojans this year, accumulating 600+ yards on offense and scoring six touchdowns. On defense, however, is where he is making his mark, as he led the team in tackles with 83 and also had 15 tackles for loss. He was also all over the field making big plays, which included three interceptions and a fumble recovery. Time for more light's out play this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1585174' first='Brody' last='Chambers'], 6'1, 280, OL/DL, SE Saline '26, is a tough-as-nails mauler in the trenches who uses his quick feet and heavy hands to blow up offensive linemen and camp out in the opposing team's backfield. A versatile, old-school hammer, he moves well through traffic and delivers a blow on contact. He was second on the team in total tackles with 61 and also led the team in sacks with six and 18 tackles for loss. He will need to be a big part of shutting down the Beloit offense later this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1229095' first='Grady' last='Gebhardt'] , 5'8, 175, ATH, SE Saline '26, my colleague Deck and I both mentioned him earlier in the week for his play on both offense and defense in last week's sectional win, so I will only briefly remind the readers that not only is the junior stud one of the team leaders in getting the team to sub-state but is also one of the top running backs in the state with 1,600+ yards and 15 touchdowns. Get your popcorn out for this guy, he's on a serious roll.

In conclusion, the season is roaring by at breakneck speed, only a couple chances left to get out and see these guys in action. And as always, if you know of any teams or players flying under the radar, reach out to me via DM on X.
