6 Players Who Can Impact the 1A State Playoffs

I take a look at a few players in the MD 1A Class who will be big impact players for their teams and could alter the 1A playoffs this weekend and beyond. These are players who aren't necessarily the highest rated recruit or "star" player of the team, but what they do for the team in their role and level of play has big impacts on the game. These players below can be the key to their school making a deep playoff to the states this winter.    Perryville has had a wonderful season at 9-2 this year and has a strong run for state's in the 1A class. I have previously talked about [player_tooltip player_id='1128029' first='Jordon' last='Jones'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1091979' first='Jayden' last='Byard'] and the impact they've had for Perryville, but their most important/ impactful player on the defensive side all year has been Tayshawn. His play at LB and being a tackling machine will be a key part to Perryville's success these playoffs.   Tyshawn as previously mentioned racks up the tackles, he is 2nd in Class 1A in total tackles with 111 tackles. While also having an impressive 22 TFLs and adding in 2.5 sacks on the year. A nice size player at 6'1" 200lbs+, Tayshawn can play inside or off the edge at the LB position. His style of play fits today's game very well, with nice athleticism, change of direction, and he just flies around the field getting to the ball quickly. Tayshawn plays with nice burst, able to blitz up the middle or from the and being a disruptor leading to all those TFLs. If he continues the play as a havoc LB he will make it tough for opponents to make any ground on offense and continue to be one of Perryville's most important players in these playoffs. He gets it done on both sides of the ball as a dual threat QB and at DB. With over 1,400 total all purpose yards and 24 total TDs he has proven to be an offensive weapon and the player to drive Seed's offense. As a DB he has made a huge impact as a rangy safety, racking up 8 interceptions already.   He is a great overall athlete with great agility and elusiveness. Dynamic with the ball in his hand he can take it to the house at any moment. Malcom plays the QB position with great pocket awareness and mobility. Keeps his eyes downfield and can step up in the pocket and deliver a strike to the middle of the field or launch a pretty deep ball for big plays. A versatile and impressive player on both sides of the ball with a very bright future, Seed School will go as far as Malcom takes them these playoffs.     You can not talk about the top impact players in 1A without mentioning Jabril. He has a chance this year to go 4 for 4 in state championships in his high school career. He also just recently became Fort Hill's all time leader in the touchdowns with 72 total career TDs and I am sure he will add to that number this week. Jabril currently is 3rd in the state in rushing with over 1,600 rushing yards and averaging over 150 rushing yards per game. He is also 4th in the state for total TDs on the year with 27 scores and it basically a guarantee he will get at-least 2 TDs a game.   A natural athlete, Jabril is very hard to bring down with the ball in his hands. He has great vision, the abiltiy to start/stop and change speeds to create space for himself and find lanes to run through. He has excellent feet, burst and straight line speed. He is also a key player for FH on the defensive side of the ball, as a LB/SS. Currently holding a handful of FCS/D2 offers, I expect his recruiting to heat up even more in these next months. With great size/frame/length at 6'3" 190, he is player hard to miss out there on the field, making plays all year both at WR and OLB.   On offense, he is a big redzone/deep ball threat as he is a nice leaper, able to go up and high point the ball over the DB. He also knows how to use his size to shield the ball from the defender, break through tackles and make big plays with the ball in his hands. As an OLB, Antonio is a force on the edge. He is fast off the snap and gets into the backfield quickly to disrupt plays. Is strong enough to shed off blockers and hold the edge, keeping the ball carrier form getting up field before making the tackle. Antonio also shows the ability to drop into coverage and uses his length nicely to get PBUs and INTs. In their last round victory against Brunswick he threw for a score and ran for another TD to help secure the win.   He's been doing it all year through the air and on the ground and makes big plays game after game. He is a tougher runner, fighting for extra yards and can run the QB power well. However, he can also pull it on a keep and scramble for big gains, showing off nice speed and some good wiggle and elusiveness in the open field. As a passer, Colin is extremely accurate. Throws a pretty/catchable ball right where the WR needs it does not miss the open man. Smart with the ball as well, he makes the right reads and decisions leading to succesfull drives. With 56 tackles on the year, 6.5 sacks and 12 tfls and 32 pressures, Luke is what we call a disruptor. A versatile D lineman as well he can line up as a DT, NG or even a 5 tech DE.   He's got a great motor and a quick first step off the snap, allowing him to get into the backfield quickly and make the play. Light on his feet, he moves well for his size with good burst and finish. Very strong as well, he is able to take on and fight through double teams. Luke is a menace as an IDL and he is able to impact the play in big ways even if he isn't the one making the play. His ability to take on blockers, clog up the middle, as well as be a very effective interior rush player does a lot for the Patterson Mill defense. The typical "if he was 6'1 he'd have D1 offers" type recruit unfortunately, but with his high GPA and what he does on the field whatever D2/D3 get him will have a heck of a player they will be happy with.
