The Tuttle Tigers come into this week at #3 in Class 4A but when it comes to this class, it truly feels like any of the teams in the top four have a legitimate claim for being that top team. All four look like true state championship contenders and the Tigers are one of them. That's not a new position for Tuttle as they've been one of the winningest programs in Class 4A over the last decade. But it's been a few years since they went all the way and captured the state championship. They have a showdown looming with defending champion Blanchard in a few weeks but this week, they'll go on the road and face #5 Bethany in another top five showdown.

Tuttle has been absolutely dominant during the first half of the regular season. They came into this year as one of the top teams in 4A football and they've definitely backed up the hype. They had a close call back in week zero against 5A's #8 Guthrie but ever since then, the Tigers have been cruising. Since the 31-24 win over the Blue Jays, Tuttle has won each of the last four games by at least 20 points. The closest game during that stretch was a 21-0 win over Newcastle. The Tigers will look to continue that momentum and dominant play into this week's game with Bethany.

The Bethany-Tuttle series hasn't particularly been a competitive one as Tuttle has a distinct advantage. In the last two decades, Tuttle has a 9-2 edge and they've won the last two after a stunning 21-0 loss at home in 2019. The Tigers beat Bethany 30-10 in last season's meeting. But Bethany is definitely playing with a chip on their shoulder and they will come into this game looking to make a statement to the rest of Class 4A that they belong in that conversation with the other top teams in the class. Last week, they lost 48-44 to defending champion Blanchard as late game interceptions would doom the Bronchos. If they can avoid those mistakes, the offense has enough firepower to keep up with Tuttle. The Tigers will have a tough test Friday but they should be ready to go.

Below, we take a look at five players to watch for Tuttle, not only this week but moving on to the rest of the season.

TUTTLE PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='1606861' first='Adrian' last='Avelar'] - Senior Defensive Lineman

The Tuttle offense gets and will continue to get a lot of the headlines this season because of the firepower they have on that side of the ball. But don't overlook this Tiger defense moving forward, specifically this week against a solid Bethany offense. Leading the team in tackles is senior defensive lineman or linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1606861' first='Adrian' last='Avelar']. He can line up just about anywhere in the front seven and find a way to be productive. Avelar not only leads the team in tackles but he also leads them in sacks. Right now, he's averaging a little over ten tackles per game for the Tigers. Bethany's offense is balanced so having a player like Avelar in the front seven will help set the tone defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='Mcadoo'] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

We've already added senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='Mcadoo'] to our PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watchlist so when it comes to some of the best players in the state, we think that Mcadoo is on that list. The senior has been a player that has stood out to us for a while now and he's one of Tuttle's leading receivers on offense and arguably the biggest playmaker on the team. He leads the Tigers through the first five games with ten touchdowns on the year. He has six receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and two punt return touchdowns. He also has an interception and a handful of tackles on defense. No matter where he is on the field, Mcadoo finds a way to make plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='211560' first='CJ' last='Simon'] - Senior Wide Receiver

We already thought Tuttle was a top five team in Class 4A and then senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='211560' first='CJ' last='Simon'] moved into the program in July. All of a sudden, they became a massive contender for the 4A gold ball. Simon has been a dynamic offensive weapon since his freshman season and he's provided Tuttle with another guy that can really put a lot of stress on opposing defenses. And the fact that the Tigers also have Mcadoo on the other side at receiver really puts a lot of pressure on opponents. Simon is leading the team in receptions and yards this season and is tied with Mcadoo with six receiving touchdowns. He's coming off a game in week five where he found the end zone three times.

[player_tooltip player_id='473754' first='Cruz' last='Campbell'] - Junior Quarterback

We've already gone on the record but we believe that junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='473754' first='Cruz' last='Campbell'] is one of the most improved signal callers in the state this year. And when he moved over to Tuttle this offseason, we thought that could provide the Tigers with the spark offensively to make a run at the 4A state championship. And so far through the first half of the regular season, Campbell has been that spark. He's thrown for nearly 1,200 yards, completing over 70 percent of his passes. He's tossed 14 touchdowns with only one interception this season. And with Mcadoo and Simon at the wide receiver positions, Campbell isn't lacking talent around him, helping him put up big numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1400727' first='Shawn' last='Rounsaville Jr'] - Junior Running Back/Linebacker

Before the season even began, we checked out the Tigers in a scrimmage with 2A powerhouse Washington. Junior running back and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1400727' first='Shawn' last='Rounsaville Jr'] was one of the players that really impressed us that night as he was dominant on both sides of the ball. So far through the first five games of the year, Rounsaville is doing most of his damage on the offensive side of the ball as Tuttle's leading rusher. He had an absolute workhorse-type effort in the week one win over Newcastle, carrying the ball 33 times. But in the last three games, Rounsaville has really become a touchdown magnet. All nine of his touchdowns have come in the last three games and he'll look to continue that this week.
