Another week in the books. Today I will be discussing some of the top offensive performances of this past week. There has been a plethora of big performances between running backs, wide receivers, and quarterbacks. It was tough sorting through all of them, however here are some of the few that stood out to me.

Smart had a big ole game against Grandview. The 6'4 180-pound senior had 11 receptions for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. This is his 2nd consecutive game with 10 + receptions and over 100 yards. Smart used his very good athletic ability to torch the DBs. He has very good speed, acceleration, good change of direction, and balance. Smart utilizes his good release at the LOS, then uses his very good athletic ability to create separation between the DB. Uses his good ball tracking skills to identify where the ball is. Smart then uses his lengthy arms to pluck the ball out of the air. After the catch, he uses his home run speed to blaze past everyone. Or he will use his physicality, plowing through defenders while using his good balance to stay up. He has good body control and good adjustment. He adjusted to a low ball thrown, keeping his hand underneath to secure it. Smart also went up for the contested catch, hauling it in for a touchdown. I was very impressed with what I saw from Smart, and I'm excited to see if he continues his 10 +, 100 + streak.

Kubat was slicing and dicing up the defense. The senior QB had an 84.6% completion rate on 22/26 for 271 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 int. Kubat used his good snappy release to get the ball on time to his receivers. He demonstrated very good ball placement on his throws. He'd lead the wideout with the ball following his stride. Kubat would consistently throw it on the money, allowing his WR to make the play. He stayed poised in the pocket, not allowing pressure to get to him. Kubat progressed through his reads, and found the open man downfield. He has been lighting it up all year, and colleges need to put him on their radar.

Conway had a great night against Valor, and that Valor defense is no joke. The 6'0 165-pound senior had 5 receptions for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a season high in receptions and yards. Conway has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and good jumping. He uses his good release at the line of scrimmage to create separation between himself and the DB. Conway has very good separation quickness due to his mental processing, and athletic ability. He will ID a void in the zone to exploit, or he will outrun the receiver at the top of the route. He has very good body control. He toe tapped both feet in bounds for one of his touchdowns. Stellar performance from a stellar receiver.

Elvira had a season high against the Air Academy. The 5'7 165-pound senior pounded the rock 14 times for 169 yards and 1 touchdown. Avier uses his good athletic ability to keep the defense on their toes. Elvira used his good vision to identify which holes to run through. He used his good change of direction to make the DL miss, or juked out defenders out in the open space. Elvira showed good competitive toughness by giving it his all on each play. Looking forward to seeing more out of the Mesa Ridge running back.

Next up on our list is Andre Drapeau. Drapeau had a massive receiving night against Lakewood, with 17 catches for 103 yards and 1 touchdown. Andre used his good athletic ability and mental processing to create opportunities for himself. He'd identify the void in the zone, and exploit it. Waiting patiently for his QB to give him the easy completion. His sure-fire hands were on his display throughout the night. Very good catching, he caught almost everything thrown his way. Measuring in at 6'2 175-pounds, he has lengthy arms to pluck the ball out of the air. Drapeau used his good juke move to create extra yards after the catch. I'm excited to see more of Drapeau moving forward.

Case was gliding through the defense, either as a rusher or a receiver. The 6'0 190-pound athlete had 9 receptions for 169 yards and 1 touchdown, with 7 carries for 30 yards on the ground. Case has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction, balance, and good speed. His ability to accelerate, decelerate, back to acceleration is amazing. He has a very good release against off coverage and the press jam. He uses his acceleration to make quick cuts causing the defender's feet to get tangled. Creates separation through athletic ability and mental processing. He comes back to the QB during the scramble drill for an easy completion. He has very good catching skills, plucking the ball out of the air. After the catch, he uses his home run speed to run past defenders. He even hurdled over one! Keeping his balance while landing and still ran. It was a blast watching Case's film, and I'm excited to see how he continues to develop this season into next. Colleges need to be aware of his film.

Lake had another nice outing this season. The 6'2 170-pound junior was making an impact both through the air and the ground. He had 4 receptions for 103 yards, and 3 carries for 21 yards. Lake used his very good athletic ability to punish the defense in different ways. Whether it was through the air, using his very good separation quickness to get open, or using his powerful legs to plow through. Lake was a consistent thorn in the defense's side. Lake has good release, and excelled against off coverage. He's only a junior with more to grow, and colleges need to keep an eye out for Keaden.

It's not every day you see a freshman QB make an impact on his team, however that is what Gourley is doing for Walsh. Last week against Wiley, he went 18/31 for 352 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception with a 58.1% completion rate. On the ground, he had 6 carries for 44 yards. Gourley used his powerful arm and a snappy release to launch it downfield. Gourley demonstrated good accuracy throughout the game at all 3 levels. He showed his good pocket presence by standing tall with pressure, or rolling out when it got to be too much. I'm impressed with Gourley this season. He has 17 TDs to 4 interceptions. He makes good decision with the ball, and isn't slinging it around recklessly. Good job Gourley!
