Lowcountry Week 9 Game Balls

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The impact of a great performance means more and more the later into the regular season we get.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday in the Lowcountry, we saw players leading their teams back to familiar territory after a rough patch, others seal a region title for their squads and even a career outing following an injury-relate absence.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each of the Game Balls recipients in the Lowcountry led their respective teams to a much-needed win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Gage Duncan</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1592230' first='Sean' last='Mitchell']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1592214' first='Andrew' last='Johnson']</strong> RBs, May River</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A week after getting stuffed time and again against Hilton Head, the Sharks' ground game was as potent as it had been the rest of the season. Duncan led the way with 156 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Mitchell needed only 10 carries to hit 123 yards and a score. And Johnson finished with 108 yards and two scores of his own on 12 carries. All that production was more than enough in the 56-14 win over Beaufort.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1592310' first='Quinn' last='Mahoney']</strong> QB, Bishop England</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bishops kept themselves in the conversation for a region title with a monster win over Bluffton, and Mahoney was the biggest reason why. The quarterback was 20-of-30 passing for 239 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another 32 yards. In the blowout win over Colleton County, Timko had eight carries and Czarnecki had nine. Yet, they each rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns in the 65-6 win. Walker and Richardson led a monster defensive effort to make sure that was the case. Walker ended his night with six tackles, a forced fumble, a pass break up and an interception. Scott (pictured) had designs on a strong senior year. But after getting hurt in the season opening and requiring minor knee surgery, that had to wait until last night. Scott made up for lost time in the 30-20 win over Ashley Ridge. Scott had 27 carries for 270 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 29 yards and another score. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Chris Terry</strong> QB, Hampton County</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The senior quarterback got the Hurricanes back on track after the team's loss to Barnwell last week. And he was as effective with his legs as he was his arm. The senior had four carries for 85 yards and a touchdown (49 yards) to help push Hampton County to 321 rushing yards as a team. He added 79 yards on five-of-seven passing. His second attempt was picked off, but he rebounded to throw touchdown passes to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1165165' first='Jaylen' last='Singletary']</strong> and <strong>Tarell Grant</strong>.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1165148' first='Jachin' last='Davis']</strong> QB, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='464896' first='Darrell' last='Holmes']</strong> LB, Stratford&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A week after he was picked off three times, Davis returned to form in a 30-28 win at home against Wando. He threw for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns while rushing for another 91 yards and a score.
