CCC: Woodland PlayerData GPS Highlights

DORCHESTER | The numbers from Sunday's Carolinas Coaches Combine at Woodland are vital.   From verified heights, wings and wingspans to laser-timed 40s, the 185-pound bench to the broad jump, they all put potential resume builders into the pockets of the participating athletes. When we're looking at long-term potential and what college programs might be pin-pointing among their top metrics, very little tops the GPS figures.    The Combine joined forces with <a href="http://playerdata.com/en-us">PlayerData</a> beginning with this year's events to provide a proven technology not available for the majority of the country.   And here's why this information may look different that what the Combine has been able to provide in the past: PlayerData keys it's devices the same for high school athletes the same as it does its college clients. Translation? Colleges seeing this information know its exactly how they'd test their own athletes.   So, without further ado, let's get to the biggest highlights    21-MPH CLUB   Last year's event included a large number of players who hit 22 mph in the previously used system. That didn't happen Sunday, and the fact that PlayerData is queuing its devices in full-second intervals was a big reason why. It doesn't mean the players were slower; in fact, it means any speed listed below was holding their top end longer.   In total, 12 players among the nearly 600 who competed between the three sessions at Woodland hit 21 miles per hour.   1(t). We can't know that for sure since players were also hitting their personal gas pedals at various points throughout the day's events.   However, these figures can all be considered top-level for the high school level. For a point of reference most football fans can digest, the highest-end miles per hour for this spring's NFL combine were between 22.1-24.07 for the fastest groups.    20-MPH CLUB   Another 20 players hit at least 20 miles per hour Sunday, with the majority of them at 20.5 or above.
