DORCHESTER | We've already discussed what we saw out of the defensive linemen from Session I and II of the Carolinas Coaches Combine but it wasn't all about the guys making the tackles. The offensive linemen also had their moments.

And some of the guys that made the moments came from the same offensive line. Gilbert's [player_tooltip player_id='1819910' first='Mason' last='Huppertz'] [player_tooltip player_id='1819911' first='Hudson' last='Smith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1822424' first='Justice' last='Corley'] showed they will have the Indians right in the thick of things if they can find the skill people to compliment what they're doing in the trenches.

Smith was the largest of the three at 252.3 pounds with Huppertz being the tallest and quickest.

Those three competed well on Sunday and felt like they held their own against some of the top-notch competition they saw on the defensive front. Smith had to sit out at the tale end of the one-on-one portion after chipping a tooth.

“It was a lot of fun being here and I loved competing,” Smith said “This was a great opportunity for us to continue to get better. It was great getting to know the players from the other schools, even some of the schools that we play at Gilbert. And it was another chance for me and my teammates to bond and it showed me some things that I need to work on. ”

But those weren't the only standouts. Here's a breakdown of several others that caught our attention in some way shape or form in the 2027 Class from the first two sessions.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664611' first='Andrae' last='Ellison'] Beaufort

You could call Ellison one of the stronger guys from the offensive line group. He hit the bench press an impressive 22 times and looked like he might have had more in him but just ran out of steam at the end. He also competed well, using his hands well and the length of his 77-inch wingspan to control the action.

[player_tooltip player_id='1820603' first='Ty'Quavian' last='Jones'] Hampton County

Jones is one of the guys that looked the part if nothing else. He was 6-foot-2, 267 pounds with a wingspan of 80 inches. All that translated into good technique and great feet that helped him hold his own in the individual battle with the defensive linemen.

[player_tooltip player_id='1764484' first='Leo' last='Naser'] May River

Not all offensive linemen are going to check the measurable boxes, but when they show the fight, it makes a difference. Naser was one of the smaller linemen in the mix, but he had a bulldog mentality that shined in competition. He was quick and didn't stay back waiting on the attack to come to him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1819778' first='Nolan' last='Giet'] Summerville

The Green Wave offensive lineman had a slight injury and couldn't compete in everything, but he did enough to be noticed. He was just a shade over 6-foot tall and 262 pounds but his 30 reps on the bench press was rather impressive. Plus, he threw the medicine ball 33.5 feet and we feel like his numbers could have been better if he was fully healthy.

[player_tooltip player_id='1756900' first='Samari' last='Richardson'] Hilton Head

One thing we noticed in both sessions is that not being over 6-foot-5, the offensive linemen showed great length. Richardson was nearly 300-pounds (294.1) and had a 79.5-inch wingspan. Being able to extend his arms and good hand placement was key to getting the upper hand in several one-on-one battles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1819774' first='Owen' last='Messex'] Woodland

Messex was competing on his home turf, so he had a little extra incentive to showcase his skills. He fought and clawed with the best of the defensive linemen and held his own. He's stocky and powerful and that helps when operating in small spaces.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822691' first='Triston' last='Diggs'] Carvers Bay

Diggs was named the Top Offensive Lineman of Session II and there was good reason for that. He was impressive on the bench press with 35 reps with 185 pounds on the bar. He had a 4.62 pro shuttle and added a 106-inch broad jump and 24.8 vertical. He then used his hands, strength and quickness in the individual drills to win more battles than he lost. His performance was an eye-opener.

[player_tooltip player_id='2129235' first='Hezekiah' last='East'] Strom Thurmond

It's easy to say that East went into beast mode during the combine. He was able to do 37 reps on the bench press and at one point we thought he might reach the 40 mark. What was a little bit surprising is right before he went to the bench press, he only threw the medicine ball 24 feet. But he showed good quickness and agility and obviously power in his 294.1-pound frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='1820912' first='Luke' last='Thayer'] South Florence

Thayer (pictured above) has played in a championship program and is great size for a center. He's smart and uses hand placement, leverage and technique in what he's trying to accomplish against interior defensive linemen. Thayer also tossed the medicine ball 37 feet, which was on the upper part of the linemen.

[player_tooltip player_id='1823170' first='James' last='Tuttle'] West Florence

When you talk about the prototypical size of an offensive tackle, Tuttle fits the bill. He was over 6-foot-5 and 291.4 pounds. His frame is going to be able to add mass and not lose any of the quickness he showed. His wingspan was 81.75-inches but one area for improvement is going to be strength and moving his feet with the defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817807' first='Anderson' last='Coggins'] Brookland-Cayce

Coggins was one of the taller offensive linemen on hand for Session II at just less than 6-foot-3 but he was slender at 250.5 pounds. He moved well and got out of his stance quickly to be able to hold his own against the defender trying to rush the dummy they had set up as the quarterback in individual drills.

Fred Turner Hartsville

It seemed like Turner was in the upper part of all the scoring for the offensive linemen while checking in at just over 6-foot-1 and 264.4 pounds. His 40-time was a respectable 5.26 and his pro shuttle was even better at 5.03. He competed well in the one-on-one portion of the combine and held his own.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260387' first='Mikey' last=''] Winters Waccamaw

Winters was likely the shortest offensive lineman part of Session II but that didn't prevent him from having a high motor and attacking every station and rep with everything he had. He's going to be just fine in the Warriors interior and probably create havoc when he pulls out to lead a running play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822669' first='Worth' last='Thomasson'] Camden

Thomasson couldn't compete in all the stations, but when he checked in at just over 6-foot-1 and 326.8 pounds, it made us aware he was there. He hit the bench press 23 times and showed he's going to be a leader for the Bulldogs in 2026.

[player_tooltip player_id='1821580' first='Jeffery' last='Williams'] Loris

Williams is going to look good getting off the bus and then even better when he puts the pads on. We noted his size and athletic ability on our sheet and wowed us on several occasions. He was a little over 6-foot-2 and 316 pounds with an 80.5-inch wingspan. He moved well and once he established his position it was difficult to move him out.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822960' first='Reilly' last='Sumner'] St. James

Sumner was another player with a wingspan nearing the 80-inch mark (79.25). He used that leverage and length in battling the defensive linemen. Getting his hands on the inside is going to be a help and then guiding the defender in the direction he wants them going to move is going to be a key to his success.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822445' first='Davis' last='Livingston'] Swansea

The Tigers like to run the ball, and Livingston isn't the biggest lineman at just less than 5-foot-11 and 238.5 pounds but he's a fighter and stays with it until the whistle blows. He displayed some quickness and he's going to give maximum effort on every snap.
