As we roll into mid-season 2024 it is already shaping up to be an intriguing season for elite quarterback play across the state.

By week 5 the best of the best have already demonstrated their dominance as well as, in many cases, have been leading their teams to some serious beat-downs on the competition. Beat-downs typically translate into lopsided wins, which are good if you are on the winning end, don't get me wrong.

But they sure do put the squeeze on a good stat line.

Granted, any quarterback worth his salt will gladly take a win over a big statistical performance, but that certainly doesn't preclude one to strive for both. But, it usually becomes a zero-sum game as not even the best-of-the-best QB's can generate stats from the sideline.

When it comes to the powerful teams steamrolling the competition, baller quarterbacks have few choices other than to go off early. If you are potentially going to get two quarters of playtime max, you better blow it up every time you step on the field.

In this report we will take a high-level look at a wide range of QB play from week 5 and see how they put their game time to use.

So, without further adieu, let's jump right into checking out Week 5 Baller QBs.

Young Guns Club (Sophomore and Freshman quarterbacks defying the odds to post big numbers at an early age)

Zac Zimmerman, 5'11, 165, '27 is breathing some rarified air these days as he not only leads the state in passing yards through five games as a sophomore, but in the process has led his team on a two-game winning streak after starting 0-3. The young gunslinger has posted some serious numbers to date, completing 125 of 168 attempts for 1,767 yards for a lofty 74% completion percentage. He is also highly-efficient for one so young, firing 18 TD's to only two interceptions.

Jerick Humpreys, 6', 170, '27 is another up-and-coming gunner who was forced into action due to injury and has been exceptional in relief.
