6A has some big time games across the state this week that will play a big factor regarding both the open division playoff hopes and 6A playoff seeding, especially for those schools in the 6A Premier Region who are all fighting for every inch. Take a look at the top 5 tough matchups:

Chandler @ Casteel

4-2 Chandler travels down the road to take on 4-2 Casteel in a huge region game. For the first time I can remember, Chandler currently sits at 5th place in the Premier Region and come off back to back losses against Liberty and Highland. However, you have to think they'll come out fired up with a huge opportunity to turn their season around and possibly sky rocket up to that #2 or #3 spot in the Premier Region with a win. Casteel sits at 2nd place in the region and they're fresh off an eye opening OT win against Perry 40-37, and have won 3 straight after starting the year 1-2 with losses against Queen creek and Mountain Pointe.

Perry @ Hamilton

Perry enters this one 4-2 with that loss last week against Casteel, and I expect them to get some things cleaned up and come out with a chip on their shoulder in this tough region matchup, as they currently sit at #2 in the region. Hamilton enters this one 5-1 yet sit behind Perry at #3 in the region after a close 20-35 loss last week against Basha, who holds the #1 spot in the region. A big one with a lot on the line for both squads as they both strive to climb up and secure a spot in the open.

ALA Queen Creek @ Red Mountain

We all know the Premier is loaded and consistent a top region, but the 6A east valley is right there with them as they have two undefeated teams, two one loss teams, and a .500 team. With that being said, both undefeated teams will face off this Friday and one will walk away 7-0 with a ton of momentum to close out the year unbeaten. Red Mountain is playing with a ton of juice right now, proving themselves to everyone across the state last week with a win over Highland. ALA-QC has been dominating almost everyone they've played thus far, as it'll be interesting to see this stout defense go up against a high powered, high scoring offense.

Liberty @ Salpointe Catholic

5-1 Liberty travels down to Tucson to take on 4-1 Salpointe catholic with playoff seeding and open division conversation on the line. Despite the current open division controversy around the state, Liberty currently holds the #5 spot, and I'd have to assume this is a must win in order to be keep the open division certainty alive, considering Salpointe is not currently listed within the top 16 (8 make it) for the open. With that being said, this has to fire Salpointe up that they are not currently being considered for the open, s I expect them to come out flying around against a very good Liberty squad. Salpointe however is ranked 13th in the 6A rankings, which again, should fire up a 4-1 team with a lot of talent.

Cesar Chavez @ Westwood

Cesar Chavez heads to Westwood to keep their impressive season rolling, as they're sitting at 4-2 with their only losses coming against Chandler and Mountain Pointe. Sohomore QB [player_tooltip player_id='678025' first='Mason' last='Penrod'] has been opening eyes all year, rising his stock, and putting Chavez back on the map. Westwood also holds a 4-2 record but are looking for some momentum to bounce back after a tough blowout loss last week 6-50 to Mountain View (Mesa). Like Chavez, Westwood's other loss came against Chandler back in week 3. I'd give the edge to Chavez in this based off hat they've done to their opponents and how competitive they kept it vs Chandler, but gain, there's a ton to prove on both sides.
