It's a rarity that specialist receive praise after their standout performances. Which is why we'll be giving them their flowers during these weekly recaps.</p>

<p>These five kickers had a busy opening night, and a few even came through in the clutch. This group is headlined by a few of the top legs from our rankings, but there are two unranked prospects that folks need to remember the rest of the season.</p>

<p>The Wellsville Eagles played their fight song several times during Week 1, which meant [player_tooltip player_id='1115098' first='Matt' last='Newhouse'] saw the field quite often. Newhouse finished the first week of the season as one of the state's leaders in PAT's, as he was a perfect seven for seven. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1431010' first='Aiden' last='Standley']</strong> - Mill Valley, 5'6”, 135, Unranked</p>

<p>One of the more thrilling matchups from Week 1 came from Mill Valley and Olathe South. The <em>Sunflower League</em> rivals traded scores throughout the contest, and the margin for error on PAT's was thin. Luckily for Mill Valley, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1431010' first='Aiden' last='Standley']</strong> was dialed in. Standley went six for six on the night and he booted three touchbacks as well.</p>

<p>Points were hard to come by in Lawrence Free State's season opening win over Shawnee Mission East. The Firebirds turned to the top ranked kicker in our Class of ‘25 rankings, and he delivered with a clutch performance. [player_tooltip player_id='1114812' first='Yusef' last='Iskandrani'] drilled a 40-yard field goal which was huge in the 12-3 victory. He helped flip field position as well, as he recorded a 75-yard punt during the game.</p>

<p>Liberal High put together one of the highest scoring games in the state during Week 1. They exploded for 70 points and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1431012' first='Horacio' last='Casas']</strong> played a key role in the blowout victory. The senior connected on six of seven PAT's, and had two kickoffs go for touchbacks. </p>

<p>The final Game Ball from Week 1 goes to one of the top ranked kickers in the junior class. [player_tooltip player_id='904439' first='Trace' last='Rudd'] had a solid kicking performance overall in Blue Valley Northwest's 34-13 victory over Blue Valley North. He finished the game averaging 40 yards per punt, had three touchbacks, and went four for five on PAT's. </p>
