Last Friday, I was able to catch the 4th-quarter of the Rochester Adams and West Bloomfield game. In addition, it was one of the most unique quarters of football that I've ever watched. Adams held the ball for an incredible 10-min game-winning drive. So, on one hand, I got to see a good amount of plays from the Adams offense and West Bloomfield D. On the other hand, I missed out on the West Bloomfield O and the Adams D. Still, I took some quick notes on a few players that I wanted to see. Here are my quick hits from Friday's matchup!

Ryland has improved significantly each and every year. Especially this season, he's showing a ton of improvement. I only got to see the 4th-quarter, and I only got to see one good drive from either team, but I got a ton of great info about who Ryland is as a Veer QB and competitor.

Ryland orchestrated the 10-minute game-winning drive. He carried the football on most plays and had a few outstanding runs where he absolutely would not be brought down. It's apparent that Ryland has put in the necessary offseason work to be extremely mentally and physically fit for a long season. He's as strong, smart, and competitive as a Veer QB should be. I expect Adams to have a successful season with Ryland at QB, and I also look forward to seeing some of his LB tape.

This is a VERY quick opinion because I only got to see about five plays of Beau.

At the very least, I saw the arm cannon. During those final 30 seconds, Beau delivered a few beautiful balls deep downfield. One ball, in particular, was rifled down the middle of the field and went right through the hands of his receiver, who probably wasn't expecting such a rocket of a throw. His other passes were equally on point, equally as hard-thrown, and Beau nearly willed his team to overtime or a 2-pt to win it.

Right when I got to the stadium, I was able to catch a few [player_tooltip player_id='437972' first='Joshua' last='Tate'] carries. In short, he passed the eye test, and I saw excellent physicality and contact balance during his carries. He's built similarly to the other elite West Bloomfield backs of the past. I know he scored at least one TD, and I expect Joshua to continue having an excellent season.

I was very happy to see Vegas playing Linebacker during the most critical moments of the 4th quarter. While the entire defense (including Vegas) looked pretty gassed, I was optimistic about how Vegas performed. For one, he was included in several gang tackles. It did take a moment for Vegas to diagnose a play, but once he did, Vegas did a nice job of attacking the ball carrier and aiding in making a tackle.

He doesn't have any tape from this season just yet, but I am very much looking forward to seeing his end-of-season highlight tape.

In order to have a successful Veer offense, you need tough running backs. Matteo is exactly that. Throughout that game-winning drive, Matteo impressed me on several occasions. Namely, Matteo had a few tough between-the-tackles runs where he displayed great power and contact balance. Where most backs would immediately fall down, Matteo did his absolute best to stay on his feet as multiple defenders dove at his legs. On top of that, Matteo has some sneaky-good athleticism in the open field.

Matteo is a team captain and obviously a very important piece of this Adams offense. I don't see any offers on his Twitter, but I find it hard to believe that 0 D3 programs would want to offer someone and skilled and well-built at Matteo.
