This past weekend, I returned to Rockford, Michigan where I grew up to attend the Rockford vs. Cass Tech season opener. It was a great game and Rockford came away with a 30-23 victory, cementing themselves as one of the top teams in Michigan once again this fall. Be sure to check out the two articles covering the game by Tyler Graham, one of our Prep Redzone Michigan scouts who runs the Mi HS FootballFrenzy X account. View his Rockford article here, and his Cass Tech article here. Be sure to give Tyler a follow on X.

I am featuring Zeke in my offensive standout article due to his 14 carry, 89 yard and 2 TD performance, but don't sleep on his defensive film from Week 1. Monticello has many quality players across their lineup, and Zeke took advantage of every opportunity he got in Monticello's 42-13 victory over William Monroe.

Walker came out strong in Week 1 with 25 carries, 236 yards, and 1 TD, averaging 9.08 yards per carry. Gate City came out of Week 1 with a 20-0 victory over Richlands. Expect him to continue being a feature of Gate City's offense through this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1171993' first='Noah' last='Paxton'] | RB
Craig County

The Craig County sophomore running back showed defenders that they better bring their best when they come down to tackle him as he will be bringing his best. In Craig County's 53-0 victory over Bland County, Noah took a toss to the right and showed his run strength and physicality versus the safety and put him on the ground, kept his balance, and proceeded to stiff arm the next defender who got to him for about a 15 yard game. This is what you call an angry run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1177963' first='Jaycob' last='Wolfe'] | QB/WR/DB
Craig County

Jaycob had a nice day in Craig County's 53-0 victory amassing 159 yards passing and 3 TDs, while completing 10 of 15 pass attempts. He averaged 15.9 yards per attempt, and 1 TD every 5 attempts. Jaycob's leadership and play on the field will be a key piece to Craig County's success this fall. If he continues with this kind of efficacy on a week to week basis, good things will happen for the Rockets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231319' first='Jeremiah' last='Brown'] | RB
Madison County

It is no secret that Jeremiah is one of the best running backs in the state. Already a school record holder for single game rushing yards, he picked up right where he left off with 21 carries, 200 yards, 3 TDs, and a 2pt. conversion run. That averages to 9.52 yards per carry and 1 TD every 7 carries. His play helped Madison County come out with a 42-28 victory over Staunton. See some of Jeremiah's runs in CBS19's Friday Night EndZone recap below.
