About Jaycob
Expert Analysis
Cole Laing | Prep Redzone Scout
A player I have been high on, Jaycob is a WR/RB/DB/QB that I expect to make himself known at the showcase. I expect solid testing numbers, and he should hold his own in the 1v1 drills. Any lower levels schools looking to add a versatile player and a leader will want to pay attention to Jaycob. I previously covered his mid-season highlights that you can view here.

The do-it-all ATH for Craig County is off to a strong start. At QB he is 18-34 for 206 yards passing, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs. He has also added 12 carries for 159 yards, and 3 TDs. He is efficiently leading Craig County’s offense with his play, and his leadership is a big part of Craig County’s 5-1 record to begin the season. His good athleticism shows while he carries the ball where he is able to use his speed, lateral movement, and change of direction to make defenders miss. At the next level, WR is likely where he will find a home if he is recruited to play offense. On defense, he plays Safety and shows his range and ball skills in the film. He is also good in run defense and can be trusted to make the open-field tackle.

Craig County is a school that is looking to make their mark, and Jaycob will be a key piece to their success. He is a versatile player who starts at QB and DB, but he has the athleticism to play WR as well. He has been putting in great work this offseason in the weight room and making his rounds at camps. I was able to see him at the Appalachia Prep Combine this summer, and he held his own against some good receivers as a DB. At the next level, DB or WR are likely where he will play. I plan to attend one of Craig County’s games this fall, so stay tuned for future updates on Jaycob and the rest of Craig County’s team. Be sure to read my full breakdown of Jaycob in my previous article featuring him here.

Jaycob is a true ATH who can play multiple roles as QB, WR, DB, and Return Specialist, and projects to be a WR or DB at the next level. Shows good athletic traits of foot quickness, lateral agility, and change of direction. He plays QB for his team, but in his limited receiving film he displays good adjustment to passes with good hands to secure the catch in traffic, and his designed running plays at QB show that he will be a threat after the catch as a ball carrier utilizing his good athletic traits to break tackles. Good processing and reaction as a DB with good ball skills and timing to disrupt passes. He plays with physicality, is good in run support, and can be counted on to make an open-field tackle. Shows good range at safety, able to run down ball carriers who make it past the third level. He has a very good competitive motor and will play through the whistle on every play to support his teammates. He was named 2nd Team All-District as an All-Purpose player and DB. Expect Jaycob to be a key feature to Craig County’s team in his senior season.
