Nevada’s Underclassmen Breakouts

<p><em>Breaking down some of the notable underclassmen standouts throughout Nevada.</em></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2027</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Williams has been a bright spot in Desert Pines' 1-4 start to the season as one of the state's leading rushers with 700 yards and 6 TDs on 87 carries. He's a smooth, slippery runner that can make defenders miss in tight areas between the OTs. He's consistent with his pad level through contact, shows his strength and physicality with an effective stiff arm, and moves with good bounce and agility to his step. Williams will certainly be a new addition in PRZ's next round of Nevada 2027 rankings.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Thomas is putting together a breakout sophomore season leading Centennial's offense in receiving with 22 catches for 411 yards and 3 TDs. The 6'0/155 wideout has posted three games of 100+ yards and a TD including a 12-catch 124-yard performance vs. Durango a few weeks ago. He's an explosive, quick-twitch playmaker that shows great elusiveness making defenders miss after the catch. He shows strong ball skills downfield and great effort and physicality as a committed blocker. Thomas- currently a 2027 WL prospect- should find himself in PRZ's official rankings in the near future. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Jpt_thejet/status/1835405981603516499 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Grant's shown promising upside as the youngest RB among Bishop Gorman's 3-headed backfield. The sophomore transfer from Texas runs with speed and physicality with the ball in his hands and holds a future D-I build at 6'/215. He can stick his foot in the ground and explode through the hole and shows good vision and lateral burst cutting to space. Grant- who currently holds five D-I offers- is quickly establishing himself as one of the top RBs in Nevada's 2027 class. </p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2028</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Stacker's been a breakout freshman as Bishop Manogue's leading receiver with 30 catches for 374 yards and 3 TDs through six games, including two 100+ yard performances against high-level California programs in St. Mary's (3/111) and Pittsburg (9/102/TD). He's a skilled, athletic wideout that's shown smooth downfield speed and impressive body control. He's an advanced route-runner that can release off the LOS with explosive foot-fire, sinks and drives to separate out of his cuts/breaks, and shows good pacing to his routes. Look for Stacker to add to add to his current offer from Nevada with the freshman season he's putting together.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/StackerDemari/status/1833218220473360400 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Topou has been a consistent name on PRZ's weekly top performers list with his impressive level of production as a freshman. The 6'1"/230 DL ranks second in the state in sacks (10) along with a team-leading 46 tackles and 19 TFLs. He's a big, physical defender on the edge with the potential to develop into a D-I prospect over the coming seasons. Topou's a player to keep an eye on as he continues to grow and develop.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Sharp is one of two freshman standouts from Desert Pines' young WR group this season. The 5'9"/130 freshman has recorded 12 catches for 166 yards and 2 TDs in four games for the Jaguars. He's a slick, slender wideout that's shown promising athleticism and agility early on into his young career. He's slippery in space with the elusiveness to make defenders miss after the catch and looks smooth and under-controlas a pass catcher. Sharp's a 2028 to keep an eye on as he continues to grow and develop.</p>
