Enjoy!</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The #10 Moore Lions find themselves in a very familiar position this season and we're looking forward to seeing how they respond over the next seven weeks. For the fourth consecutive year, Moore has begun the season with a 3-0 record. They took down city rivals Westmoore and Southmoore and then beat Norman North in week three. However, despite starting the last three seasons with a 3-0 record, the Lions missed out on the playoffs. So for us, it's all about how the Lions finish 2024 but they certainly look like a team that could end up punching their ticket to the postseason.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Moore goes on the road for one of the bigger games in Class 6A-1 this week when they face #5 Mustang. A lot of the attention in 6A-1 will be on the Bixby-Jenks match-up but this is the only game in 6A-1 that features two 3-0 teams squaring off against one another. Mustang provides a serious challenge to the Lions but when you look up and down the schedule, there are plenty of challenges ahead for the Lions and if Moore wants to snap this streak of fast starts but no playoff appearances, they can't afford to drop too many of these district games. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Moore and Mustang haven't met since 2021 after they were in different districts for the last two seasons. From 2014-2021, these two teams would square off in district play and Mustang had the edge during that span with a 5-3 record but the Lions did win the last two meetings before these two teams were assigned to different districts. Both teams come in with explosive offenses that can run and throw the ball very effectively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below, we take a look at four players that have gotten off to good starts this year. These fouir guys should provide an impact in the game with Mustang on Friday night and throughout the rest of the season!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>MOORE PLAYERS TO WATCH</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1355551' first='Hayden' last='Stull'] - Senior Linebacker</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The first of two linebackers to keep an eye on this week for the Lions will be senior [player_tooltip player_id='1355551' first='Hayden' last='Stull'] as he's off to a great start to the season. Stull came into the year expecting to be one of the team's leading tacklers and he's living up to the preseason hype so far. Stull is second on the team in tackles through the first three games and he's coming off a season-high in tackles in the win over Norman North. Now, one thing that impressed us about Stull after last season was his ability to get after the quarterback. He racked up the sacks in 2023 and he's off to a great start this season. Stull has had a sack in each of Moore's first three games. The Lions will need Stull to get after Mustang's physical QB. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='211565' first='Malikai' last='Miller'] - Senior Quarterback</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='211565' first='Malikai' last='Miller'] came into this season looking to build on a breakout junior season. Through the first three games, it looks like he's well on his way and he's going to provide a major threat to the Mustang defense with his arm and legs. Miller has thrown for over 500 yards and four touchdowns while also adding nearly 200 yards and a touchdown on the ground. And when teams take away one thing, Miller turns around and beats them with the other. In the first two games, he didn't do as much in the ground game because the pass game was enough. Last week, he had a season-low in every passing category but immediately burned their opponent with a season-high in every rushing category in the win. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1506281' first='Nick' last='Carden'] - Senior Linebacker</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In addition to Stull, you also need to keep an eye on senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1506281' first='Nick' last='Carden'] this week and moving forward. For this week's match-up specifically, the Moore front seven will play a big role. Mustang's quarterback is a physical athlete that is incredibly dangerous in the ground game so bringing the physicality and the fight to him will be a big key to getting a win on Friday night. Carden is another player that is a top five guy in tackles and he definitely finds his way into the backfield at a very high rate. He's had at least one tackle for loss in each of the first three games. He's also recorded a sack in each of the last two games. The Moore senior is definitely a linebacker that looks the part and the production is starting to match. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1506286' first='Ozias' last='Adams'] - Sophomore Running Back</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Out of the four players on this breakdown, sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id='1506286' first='Ozias' last='Adams'] is a new name for us. When we look at the Lions so far through three games, it's hard to not be impressed with the success of the running game. They have three different running backs with over 200 yards. And that doesn't include Miller, who is closing in on that 200 yard mark on the ground. But in last week's win over Norman North, it was Adams that emerged as the top performer in the Moore backfield. After he had seven carries for 80 yards and one touchdown through the first two games, Adams exploded in week three. He finished with 19 carries for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the win and looks to carry that momentum into this week. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
