<p>I love scouting linebackers and will enjoy keying on that position this fall. Here are five linebackers who made plays on the first Friday of the Kansas prep season.</p>

<p>I also can't mention it often enough that athletes and coaches can reach out to me to share stats, but <span style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px">if coaches use Max Preps or other sites to report and share stats, please list a player's height, weight, and position. I skipped over several players with higher tackle totals whose information was missing. Athletes should also include their height, weight, and position and <strong>write</strong> out their</span> high school on social media and HUDL accounts.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='716076' first='Carter' last='Morgan'],</strong> LB, 5'11”, 170, Hutchinson, ‘25</p>

<p>Morgan finished with 13 total tackles and a hurry during the Salthawks' first game or the year. Morgan is currently ranked No. 271 overall in the class of 2025 and is the 40th-ranked linebacker in Kansas. Morgan's speed is his primary asset and the Hutch senior is also a solid baseball prospect. The Salthawks fell to Andover Central in their opening game and will play Valley Center on September 13.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1428939' first='Keith' last='Gomez'],</strong> LB, 5'9”, 165, Humboldt, ‘25</p>

<p>Gomez is an unranked linebacker playing for the Class 2A Humboldt Cubs. Gomez tallied 10 total tackles and a quarterback sack in the Cubs' 28-12 victory over Caney Valley. He also plays guard for Humboldt on the offensive line.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1287315' first='Joshua' last='Galbreath']</strong>, LB, 6'4”, 200, Lawrence, ‘26</p>

<p>Lawrence shut out their week one opponent 43-0 and Galbreath was at the center of the team's solid defensive night. He finished with 15 total tackles against Shawnee Mission South. He got to the quarterback three times for sacks and added another hurry. Galbreath is currently ranked No. 240 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. He is being courted by multiple Division I schools and has an offer from Michigan.</p>

<p>Girton is an unranked prospect who had a big season opening night for the Clay Center Tigers. Girton racked up 14 tackles in a 34-7 win over Abilene. He also plays running back for the Clay Center and rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Girton sacked the Cowboys' Quarterback twice and caused one fumble.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1657483' first='Gavin' last='Saner']</strong>, LB, 5'11”, 190, Valley Center, ‘26</p>

<p>Valley Center's Saner is an unranked prospect. He finished with 14 total tackles in a week one loss to Eisenhower. The Hornet prospect is quick and versatile. He had 3.5 tackles for lost yardage against the Tigers. His HUDL account shows that he has taken snaps on the offensive side of the ball at multiple positions. He is someone Prep Redzone will have to keep track of this fall.</p>
