[player_tooltip player_id='1279915' first='Braylon' last='Evans'] (Twitter), OL/DL - Cedar Rapids Jefferson - 6'5" 310 lbs

The more I watch Cedar Rapids Jefferson's [player_tooltip player_id='1279915' first='Braylon' last='Evans'] tape, the more I wonder why he isn't receiving more attention on the recruiting trail. Evans passes the eye test immediately with next-level size at 6'5" and 310 pounds while possessing elite athleticism, including a 4.7 40-yard time. This speed and explosiveness translate very well to his tape, where you can see his lateral quickness and burst when moving up to the second level to pick up defenders. One of the more impressive parts of Braylon's game is his mean streak and aggressiveness when finishing off blocks. A strong base allows him to anchor down in pass protection and stalwart defenders at the line. Clean footwork. Evans also has a high ceiling on the defensive side of the ball, as he's tallied 24.5 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. Big, physical player who can play on either offense or defense at the collegiate level.

Royals' two-way star [player_tooltip player_id='252309' first='Jace' last='Colling'] continues to build on a strong junior year with a solid start to his senior campaign. Colling starts as a receiver and free safety for MMCRU, where he has accumulated 96 receiving yards, a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown, eight tackles, a TFL, a sack, and two interceptions. Jace looks solid at receiver, using his size and lengthy frame to give his quarterback a very friendly catch radius to throw to. He's a good route runner who can create separation using a sharp change of direction at the top of the route. The Royals also do a good job getting him the ball in space, where he can use his long stride to burst upfield and gain solid yardage after the catch. Defensively, Jace is a rangy safety who can cover from sideline to sideline with the instincts and ball skills to go up and make a play on the ball. Good blocker as well. Dordt is the first team to throw their hat in for Jace's service, but I'm sure several more will join by season's end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1361480' first='BJ' last='Tate Jr'] (Twitter - Hudl), ATH - North Polk - 5'8" 180 lbs

Playing for the "Comets" is very fitting for electric RB [player_tooltip player_id='1361480' first='BJ' last='Tate Jr']. The North Polk senior has already rushed for 465 yards and eight touchdowns on 91 carries through four games. BJ isn't the biggest back out there, but he is extremely shifty and has great balance and footwork to keep him upright through contact. BJ flashes great twitch when carrying the ball with the agility and suddenness to make defenders whiff on tackles in open space. He sees the field very well and can quickly cut back to open lanes. Tate's burst was also impressive to watch as he was a near lock to hit the home run if defenses allowed him to clear the second level. I look forward to seeing more of Tate's senior film as the season continues.

Last season's regular season rushing leader in 5A is back and making a strong case to repeat this season. Des Moines Lincoln senior [player_tooltip player_id='1123309' first='Javon' last='Sanders'] has already rushed for 752 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 94 carries, averaging 8 yards per carry. Javon is a surprisingly shifty runner who finds ways to bounce runs to the outside before exploding past the defense with his top-tier acceleration. Sanders possesses great vision, which allows him to find open lanes very well while also making himself skinny to fit through even the tightest gaps. Sanders also displays good lower body strength and balance when driving through tackle attempts. Strong, sturdy frame at 6'1" and 185 pounds that can take on a full workload. Javon is also a solid receiving option out of the backfield, with 130 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns this season. Surprisingly, Javon is still waiting on that first offer. Get at this guy ASAP!!

Cedar Falls senior [player_tooltip player_id='1080239' first='Jarrett' last='Kies'] is an absolute thumper at linebacker who you must account for on defense every play. Jarrett is a very impressive athlete with a size that projects very well to the next level at 6'3" and 215 pounds, with room to continue packing his frame. Jarrett plays with the intensity and motor you love seeing out of your linebackers. He's a very smart player who is effective at reading his keys and is quick to pick up on offensive schemes. I liked the versatility of playing inside LB and being a threat coming off the edge. Kies displayed great bend and speed when providing edge pressure with effective hand usage to disengage from blocks. Quick first step allows him to fire through his gaps to meet RBs in the hole and stonewall them at or behind the line of scrimmage. Jarrett has recorded 23 tackles and 2 TFLs so far this season. He's already made some noise on the recruiting trail with offers from North Dakota, Western Illinois, Sioux Falls, and Northern Iowa. Definitely a guy you don't want to sleep on.
