Hopewell at Mallard Creek – Offensive Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a game moved to Saturday night due to Hurricane Helene, the 3-1 Hopewell Titans came over to face the 3-1 Mallard Creek Mavericks. The Mavericks flexed their muscle in this one, running away with a 50-0 victory on Homecoming. Cook's road-grading blocking allows the Mavericks to control the line of scrimmage consistently behind a variety of running backs and dual-threat quarterbacks. Curtis is very fast and shows great agility and vision with the football in his hands. Curtis also contributed on Special Teams with a punt block which he returned for a touchdown as well. He started very well, with a touchdown pass off of play-action to TE Addison Powell. Perry is a dual-threat player and with the other two quarterbacks being seniors, it looks as if he will be a main guy for the Mavericks for this year and next year. Caleb is definitely explosive with the ball in his hands and he shows some excellent speed and vision, making small holes into big plays. On the next level, I could see Caleb as a receiver or a running back, he is really that good. The Titans got overwhelmed on the line of scrimmage in other spots, but in his individual matchups, I thought Jackson moved his feet well against speed rushers in the passing game. Messiah's size is impressive, he is definitely a physical receiver who can make some tough catches against man coverage. I think he is under the radar at the moment - per his Twitter profile, Messiah also plays basketball and he played defense at some outside linebacker, so I think this is an athlete a college may be able to mold into a real player at the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
