One week of football is in the books.

It is time to take a look at five important games on the Week Two schedule. There are several games on Thursday night this week, including one I highlighted.

Good luck to all Kanas prep teams and stay safe out there.

Lawrence (1-0) @ Junction City (1-0) – The Chesty Lions head west for a Thursday night game in Junction City. Both teams shut out their respective opponents in their season openers. This will be a game that impacts the seeding in the Class 6A playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='733502' first='Banks' last='Bowen'], ATH, 6'2”, 175, Lawrence, ‘25

Bowen had a huge game for Lawrence in a season-opening win over Shawnee Mission South. Bowen, who has verbally committed to Tulsa University, threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns last week. Bowen is currently ranked No. 20 overall and it appears he will only play offense this season.

Rock Creek (1-0) @ Wamego (1-0) – Wamego will play its first home game of the season after a 41-8 road win in Concordia. The Mustangs trampled Bishop Ward 63-7 in their opener. This is a game between a Class 4A and 3A team each looking to make deep playoff runs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1305269' first='Mack' last='Lee'], QB, 5'11”, 185, Rock Creek, ‘25

Lee is a quarterback I look forward to seeing plays this week as I will scout the game in Wamego. Lee threw for two touchdowns and 131 yards in the win over Bishop Ward. He also rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. He is ranked No. 276 overall. Young quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1113129' first='Logan' last='Fulton'] threw for 125 yards and a TD.

Shawnee Mission East (0-1) @ Seaman (1-0) – The Vikings beat Piper to open their season and Shawnee Mission East lost a low-scoring game to Free State. Neither team can afford to lose many games early as they fight for playoff seeding.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274084' first='Kaden' last='McKinney'], RB, 6'2”, 180, Seaman, 26

McKinney is currently ranked No. 39 overall by Prep Redzone. He had a solid performance in the Vikings' first game. He rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. He fights for the tough yards and toted the rock 20 times in Seaman's season-opening win.

Iola (1-0) @ Wellsville (1-0) – Two undefeated teams meet in Wellsville in week two. Wellsville won a road opener over Anderson County 49-7, while the Mustangs knocked off Baldwin 23-20 in Iola.

[player_tooltip player_id='1115499' first='Carter' last='Wilmarth'], LB, 6'1” 215, Wellsville, ‘25

Wilmarth is a tough linebacker who collected 10 tackles in the Eagle's victory over Anderson County. He is currently ranked No. 128 overall in the class of 2025. One of those tackles resulted in lost yardage. The Wellsville prospect finished his sophomore season with 97 total tackles. He has one offer in his pocket from Bethany College.

Osage City (1-0) @ Cair Paravel (1-0) – Cair Paravel won its first game in 11-man football after moving from the 8-man game. The Lions knocked off West Franklin 44-0 in their opener. Osage City was also victorious in week one with a 41-0 win over Olpe.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113374' first='Kasen' last='Parsons'], QB, 6'0”, 185, Osage City, ‘26

Parsons is currently ranked No. 64 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. He is a dual-threat quarterback who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for two more scores and 81 yards on 16 carries. Defensively he collected four total tackles and a quarterback sack.
