I've been waiting for this debut for a long time. OK- so, Jaxson was one of the biggest offseason winners. Superb testing statistics, amazing passing, several MVP awards at camps, a Western Michigan offer, etc. Now, how'd he do against one of the best defenses in Michigan?

Well, Davison only scored 3 points, but many of the offensive struggles weren't on Jaxson. I have some nitpicks about several things outside of Jaxon's control, but I'll only focus on Jaxson here.

First, the good. Jaxson's arm and athleticism showed up. There were several instances where the De La Salle defensive line won early, and there were several times where Jaxson was able to evade pressure and extend the play. During one play in particular, Jaxson had his legs grabbed, stumbled, stayed on his feet, and almost converted an explosive play. In addition, you could really see his explosiveness and change of direction play out on the field. He also had a handful of scrambles/carries in which he earned good yardage on a few occasions.

Secondly, the arm. Jaxson can sling it. He's able to throw downfield with little effort, quick release, and I'll commend him for his consistent mechanics.

Now, some negatives that I witnessed.

Accuracy. There are definitely a couple of throws that Jaxson wishes he had back. On that near-explosive play, Jaxson barely overthrew his receiver. On a few other plays, his placement wasn't quite where it needed to be to beat a great secondary. Maybe it was pressure, maybe it was the admittedly great defensive scheme, but Jaxson was a touch off when it came to accuracy.

Secondly, his overall decision-making. A lot of this comes from game-time experience. Though Jaxson sometimes left the pocket when he didn't have to, hesitated to throw the football, or didn't fully commit to a running lane. Most of this can easily be due to a lack of experience, and I have no doubt that he'll gain a ton of confidence throughout this season.

All in all, I'm content with what I saw from Jaxson. I think that with some more experience, he'll gain confidence and learn how to effectively use his legs and arm in a balanced, efficient manner. Still definitely a low MAC prospect in my eyes, with plenty of opportunity to move up the ladder.

Wesley showed up on Thursday Night. His high points consist of a few high-concentration catches (one off a tipped pass, one where he had to shift his body quickly). Lastly, he caught a few balls on some very nice looking out-routes and nearly scored a touchdown. During this game it became apparent to me that Wesley his a very athletic route-runner who can make big plays in some high-pressure moments.

On the other hand, Wesley made a few mistakes. Most notably, his late-game fumble. Secondly, he had a wheel route where he tripped and fell, and it looked like he may have had a shot at a physical catch if he kept his feet.

All in all, it was a great first game for Wesley, and there are a few things to work on. I'm also frankly quite shocked that he doesn't have any offers posted on Twitter.

Warren showed a lot of what I've seen on tape. There's little doubt that he's a talented player. He truly knows how to use his length to disrupt passing lanes, swipe hands away, and he makes rushing the passer look easy.

Although he's a great defensive lineman, I can't help but question his effort on some plays. On several instances, Warren dances around the lineman before making his move, commonly ruining his momentum. He has the length and skill to get away with it, but Warren could be so much more dominant if he committed early and played with a lot more explosiveness. Still, he made some great plays and is an extremely high-upside player. At Western, I have little doubt that he'll be developed into a much-improved defensive end.

Kayden is someone who just kept showing up on my tape.

On a couple of inside runs, Kayden broke through and made a good tackle. On a couple of passes, Kayden won early and pressured the QB. I also really like his motor and consistency- he did not slow down (most DTs I watch slow down throughout the game).

Kayden didn't do anything eye-popping, but it's obvious that he knows how to get past good blockers. He's a very good defensive tackle. I'm also very surprised that he only has one offer from Adrian posted to his twitter.

I'll keep this one short- Braylen had an OK day.

Overall, I like his route-running and physicality, though the De La Salle DBs were way better than most regarding shedding blocks. Braylon had a couple of opportunities to make plays but wasn't able to adjust his body quickly enough to give himself a chance. Throughout this season, I'd like to see Brayden keep working on his physicality.

Tray played a key role in limiting De La Salle's opportunities early. Namely, his interception was impressive. He also had a few good tackles when he was an unblocked defender. On the other hand, when De La Salle attempted to block Tray, they were usually successful. Moving forward, Tray should work on his aggressiveness and his ability to stop the outside run.

I haven't watched Tray too much this past offseason, but my gut feeling says he's a low D2 prospect.
