Week One Standouts

Benefitting from more of a passing attack in 2024, Boyd looks to be the main target from his receiver slot. In the 40-7 win over Handley, Boyd pulled in just 4 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Boyd is elusive and incredible hands. At 6'4" 215 pounds, O'Dell has the size to be a drop-back QB with an incredibly strong arm. His speed is excellent for his size and allows him to make plays with his legs. His football IQ is off-the-charts which makes his decision-making perfect for a field general. In Oak Mountain's win over Briarwood, O'Dell connected on 21 of 26 passes for 208 yards and rushed for another 194 additional yards on 21 carries. Coming off of the edge, Marbury brings the heat to the backfield. His tackles are physical and I really like his pursuit to the football. At 6'1" 215, Marbury showed that he has the toughness to run the football as well. He brings that same physicality but can also rip off big gains. [player_tooltip player_id='1224624' first='Jabari' last='Staples'] put on a clinic on Friday as the Cougars took down Hueytown 28-7. Stapes hauled in 5 passes but 3 were for touchdowns to go along with his 132 yards. Staples uses his 6'1" frame to shield off defenders and make tough catches across the middle. He was crisp in his routes and made cuts at full speed. Recruiters love the way that Smith uses his leverage and speed off of the edge. He has a never quit attitude and is an absolutely relentless defender. In Grissom's win over Lee-Huntsville, Smith was once again unblockable. The senior posted 10 total tackles, 2 quarterback pressures and 2 tackles for loss.
