Last season, Elmont had a solid season, finishing with a winning record but running into New Hyde Park in the playoffs after beating them earlier in the season. Elmont struggled against Garden City as you would expect most teams to, but they overall had a really successful season that was filled with mostly competitive games, win or lose.

The reigning Pat Pizzarelli award winner(Best wide receiver in Nassau County) is one of the top WR prospects in the entire state. After a strong summer of college camps and 7v7 tournaments, Edwards comes into the season as one of the few Division 1 WR prospects that has an elite frame and the athleticism to make any type of catch down the field. He showed last year he can stretch the field and make contested catches with anyone in the state and looks to showcase a full route tree and even more flashes of YAC ability. .

Collins is a player I was able to see live at the downstate classic at SUNY Maritime. Not only is his size overwhelming for a defensive lineman, but he has great natural bend and athleticism. He is still developing his hand usage and footwork as a lineman, but he has natural athletic abilities that you cannot coach.

Nwabudu missed some of the season due to injury, and the DE/EDGE prospect for Elmont has elite length coming off the edge. There are some positives in the limited film he does have, but Nwabudu could be a player who really develops from a solid starter to one of the more impactful players on this team.

Barnes was a really solid performer last season for Elmont and was an all-region selection. Barnes nearly hit 1,000 yards, but on film, you see his strong connection with [player_tooltip player_id='1213092' first='Nassir' last='Edwards']. With a deep WR core headed into the season and a year of quality experience, Barnes can take another step forward in his game. With a more dominant group of WRs and the star RB gone from last season, Elmont can turn into a pass-heavy team with Barnes.

2024 Outlook

Head Coach: Tommy Innes

Elmont heads into the season with potentially one of the more potent offenses in New York and Long Island. They return a strong group of WRs led by Edwards and a QB in Barnes who has solid tape and spins it well. They have Collins on the inside of the OL with some solid size around him, and [player_tooltip player_id='1365211' first='Elijah' last='Davis'] should turn some heads this year.

3 Things Going For The Spartans

The return is a very strong WR group and their QB, which could lead to being one of the more prolific passing offenses in Nassau County.

They have multiple big OL/DL prospects with varsity experience.

[player_tooltip player_id='1365211' first='Elijah' last='Davis'] is one of the better young prospects in Nassau County. If he has a breakout year, Elmont will add even more firepower.

1 Area To Be Concerns

Replacing the production lost from Isaiah Davis' senior season will be very difficult. It will take a group effort, not an individual. Davis was one of the best RBs in the state last season.

The Last Word

Overall, this team has a chance to be better than last season even with the loss of a Division 1 running back; there will be a lot on the QB Barnes to take a step forward, and if he can hit the 1,000+ yard mark, they will be churning on all cylinders come playoffs time. I still think they will struggle with Garden City because every team will struggle with Garden City, but they have a strong roster and should be even more competitive than last season.
