Robbinsdale Armstrong was a state-entrant team last season, so I traveled down to Plymouth to watch them welcome the St. Francis Fighting Saints to their field to kick off the 2024 football season. The game started competitively, with both teams only notching one touchdown through the first quarter with the Fighting Saints converting a swinging gate 2-point conversion. However, the Falcons quickly pulled away with a dominating offense and a stifling defense, which led to the final score being 42-15. Both teams did showcase flashes of brilliance, so I'm pleased to present some of the most impressive prospects!

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='743274' first='Kevon' last='Johnson'] 5'9" 175 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2025

If I had to give out an offensive game ball, it would go to Johnson without question. He tore up the Fighting Saints defense through the 3 quarters he played, amassing 4 TDs and what seemed like hundreds of yards. He was clearly the quickest athlete on the field and ran hard downhill. He broke numerous tackles every time the Falcons gave him the rock, and the second that he was given any open space he was breaking off a giant run. After a phenomenal first week, Johnson is clear and by far in the conversation for top RBs in the state.

WR: Farelle Deline 6' 165 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2026

Without the team's leading receiver from last season playing in their season opener, Deline stepped up in a big way leading his team in both receptions and receiving yards. Deline was particularly adept at creating space on short routes below 15 yards, and always managed to pick up a couple more once the ball hit his hands. He was a shifty route runner who started his junior season off with a bang, and he's proving to be a name to keep an eye out for.

QB: Dawson Franke 5'11" 170 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2025

I have long touted Franke's abilities and claimed that he's vastly underrated, a statement that he proved on Friday night. While he didn't air the rock as much as I thought he would at the start of the game, he found ways to win, whether that be with his arm or his legs. He throws a nice ball, showing off solid arm strength and a crisp spiral when he's given a complete pocket. When the pocket does break down, get ready because Franke will scramble for a big gain. He's a dual-threat QB who I expect to have a dominant senior year.

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='1248644' first='Lucas' last='Wodtke'] 5'11" 180 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2026

Bringing down the team's only passing TD of the day, Wodtke found himself open on more than one occasion and impressed me with his ability to bring down the rock in tight coverage, and when contacted at the catch point. The depth on this Armstrong team at receiver is wild, and that's a testament to how talented Wodtke is. Through week one, he looks to be one of many rising 2026 talents on this Falcons squad.

TE: [player_tooltip player_id='1489326' first='Eli' last='Kuempel'] 6'1" 200 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2026

Kuempel was responsible for opening the Falcons passing game early on, bringing down a couple of key 3rd down catches to keep the drive alive. He's got a solid frame and doesn't shy away from contact with the ball in his hands, or when they utilize his blocking abilities as a wingback. I'm eager to see how the Falcons continue to utilize Keumpel's abilities through the remainder of his junior year because I think he will likely blossom into a very talented TE prospect.

OL: [player_tooltip player_id='945344' first='Luke' last='Pappas'] 6'3" 270 lbs Robbinsdale Armstrong 2025

It's usually pretty hard to evaluate offensive line play unless you are looking specifically for a certain prospect. Minnesota-Duluth commit Pappas however broke that mold clearly and by far. He was a violent offensive lineman who was rag-dolling large defensive linemen like they were balloon animals. Play after play, Pappas cleared the way for his ball carriers by driving anyone in a white jersey straight into the dirt. His pass protection was excellent and his impact on the defensive line was clear. The Bulldogs have a monster prospect in Pappas.

WR: Owen Lamson 6' 185 lbs St. Francis 2025

While he didn't post eye-popping numbers, Lamson brought down incredibly difficult catches in traffic while getting smoked by defenders. His ability to go up and bring down passes that are far out of most wideout's catch radius was both admirable and impressive. The three-sport athlete brings a lot to the field and I hope that he continues to build on the success he saw on Friday during the rest of his senior year.

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='743237' first='Adam' last='Jordan'] 6' 165 lbs St. Francis 2026

The owner of most receptions and receiving yards for the Fighting Saints, Jordan has been a mainstay of the PrepRedzone camp circuit and his consistent improvement has been fun to watch. He had some of the best hands on the field, rarely if ever dropping a ball. Jordan tends to find himself open and when he gets hit after catching the ball in a tight window, he fights tooth and nail for every single yard after catch. I'm very high on Jordan's abilities to evolve into a high-level receiver over the next two seasons.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1248636' first='Jacob' last='Tilly'] 5'11" 180 lbs St. Francis 2025

Tilly was responsible for the Saint's first TD and it was an impressive one. He broke off a quick run outside of the tackles for a massive 60-yard gain That was a theme for the All-State track athlete, whenever he got the chance to get the rock outside of the big men, he showed that he could gash the defense for big gains. Even between the tackles Tilly can lower his shoulders and get you 3-5 hard-fought yards to drive downfield. Tilly is an underrated athlete who needs more attention during his senior year.

OL: [player_tooltip player_id='563415' first='Sam' last='Ruid'] 6'6" 300 lbs St. Francis 2025

Ruid had a strong game on Friday night, playing as the blindside tackle, he was only beaten once in pass pro against what are some impactful defensive linemen from the Falcons. For the most part, Ruid was capable of entirely erasing the blindside pass rusher, often providing his QB with multiple seconds inside of the pocket. In the run game, once he gets his hands on a defender Ruid puts them on skates quickly and clears a path for whoever is fortunate enough to run behind him. Somehow Ruid remains underrated and I hope he gets the attention he deserves throughout his senior season.
