Shearing is a very athletic tackle prospect that moves well for his size, snaps off the ball and wins with a powerful punch, natural band and nasty finish of the point of attack. He can get to the second level and block in space while also showing good patience and hand usage in pass protection. He has elite size and length for the position with a frame that can continue to pack on more weight as he progresses through his college career. He impressed at multiple stops this off-season and has a huge catch radius strong hands and can make contested catches with ease downfield while a mismatch nightmare in the red-zone. He is a very good athlete for his size and has tons of growth potential at the next level and should be able to find a home as he moves through his Senior season. He plays with a heavy hand set, consistent lockout and can violently shed in the run game. In pass rush situations he has a quick first step, is a natural bender on the edge and can win with both primary and counter moves when needed. He is a very athletic and fluid moving linebacker that can play either inside or outside, and shows a good balance of coverage skills and run stopping abilities both in the box and the open field. The Rocky Mountain product is a sure tackler that has quick play recognition, brings good violence at the POA and does a nice job at navigating through traffic to knife into the backfield consistently. He is another very athletic second level defender that moves very well for his size/closes quickly and is a sure tackler in the open field while also able to bang in the box when needed. He displays a high IQ when sniffing out screens/draws and has a quick trigger downhill with closing speed and good initial explosion in the short area. Overall, he is a very impressive linebacker that will no doubt find a home at the next level.
