[player_tooltip player_id='1349552' first='Akeem' last='Blackmon'] is a really talented linebacker that has become a key piece of Pike Road's defense over the last few years. Blackmon is a highly versatile player that can play inside/outside, rush the passer, stop the run, and make plays all over the field. Blackmon is extremely productive when he puts his hand in the dirt- he has a terrific first step, can easily overwhelm offensive linemen with how quick and powerful he is, and can consistently generate pressure and place big hits on the quarterback. In addition to his pass rushing, Blackmon also does a great job setting the edge against the run- he doesn't allow for the ball carrier to escape outside and consistently wraps them up behind or at the line of scrimmage. It's easy to see all of these traits on tape as Blackmon made a ton of plays all around the field last fall. He ended the season with 48 total tackles (23 solo, 4 for loss), 6 sacks, and 10 hurries. Watch out for Blackmon this fall, he's coming off a great junior season and is bound to make a ton of great plays this year!

[player_tooltip player_id='247638' first='Ethan' last='Carter'] is a super productive linebacker out of Parker that has just transferred into the state from Michigan. On his previous team, Carter was a super reliable inside linebacker that was able to make tons of impacts against the run and pass. It's very impressive watching Carter play against the run, he has some elite anticipation and reaction time that allows him to quickly fill in gaps to stop the ball carrier. Carter also does a great job fighting off blocks and making the extra effort to get tackles, he plays with a ton of effort and pursuit regardless of where he starts the play. When you combine those skills with his tackling technique, it makes Carter a force at every level of the field. Earlier this summer, Carter picked up an offer from West Georgia- with how well he has played we could see him pick up some more this year. Be sure to watch out for Carter this fall, he has a ton of talent and Parker's defense has the potential to be one of the best units in the state!

[player_tooltip player_id='1310441' first='Cameron' last='Torbor'] is a dominant defensive lineman out of Hoover that has been a force in the trenches over the last few seasons. Torbor is a destructive defensive end that does an excellent job against the run. Torbor does a great job eating up space and setting the edge and can tackle/open up opportunities for his teammates to make plays on the ball carrier. Torbor is also a really reliable pass rusher-he has a good blend of size, speed, and pass rush moves that allow him to beat a wide variety of talented offensive linemen to generate pressure and bring down the quarterback. Since last fall, Torbor has seen his recruitment take off. He's recently picked up offers from Austin Peay, UAB, West Georgia, and others- with how well he's played we could see him add some more to that list. Torbor is set for a big senior season, he played great last fall and will likely be one of Hoover's top defenders!

[player_tooltip player_id='1007080' first='Asim' last='White'] is a dynamic defensive back out of Dothan that has developed into a lockdown defender over the last few seasons. White is a versatile safety that provides great coverage and run support for his defense- he is terrific at reading and reacting to plays, and frequently can capitalize because of it. White is talented in coverage- he's super quick on his feet, does a great job of not getting beat over the top, and consistently uses his hands to jar the ball free. White is also reliable against the run- he doesn't shy away from contact, is a solid tackler, and plays with a ton of pursuit. All of these skills showed up on tape last season as White ended the year with 63 total tackles (51 solo, 7 for loss) and 5 pass breakups. White had a big year last fall and is looking to follow it up with his senior season- be sure to keep an eye on him and Dothan's defense!
