The Hamilton Huskies are ready to return to form of winning state championships just like in the early 2000s under their new head coach, former Huskies quarterback Travis Dixon. Posting a 7-4 record, sneaking into the Open Division playoffs to keep their perfect Open Division appearance streak alive since the playoff's inception in 2019 before losing to the Open Division State Champion Liberty Lions in the first round. As Hamilton welcomes a new head coach and fresh faces, we have several prominent players worthy of discussion. This article will focus solely on the Huskies offense.

Here are some key players to watch on the Hamilton offense:

2025 Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='368944' first='Richard' last='Lucero'] Jr. is ready to evaluate his offense to a whole new level this upcoming season. Despite splitting snaps with a senior QB last year, Lucero stood out when he got his moments. He had 1298 passing yards for 11 passing TDs, only 1 INT, and 148 rushing yards for 4 Rushing TDs. Lucero is an intelligent QB, making his throws with excellent timing and anticipation. He throws one of the best back shoulder fades in the state, putting just the right amount of velocity and leverage on the throw, allowing only his receivers to be able to make the play. He is also a threat on the ground, with stellar mobility and long leg strides to quickly gain ground if the defense is out of their pass rush lanes. Lucero has a few offers, notably one from Georgetown. The Hamilton offense will be fun to watch with Lucero as the game manager for his team going forward.

A new addition to the Hamilton backfield will be 2026 Running Back [player_tooltip player_id='992823' first='Jacob' last='Brown']. Transferring in-state from the 2023 6A state champ Saguaro Sabercats, he is looking to be the number one back leading the charge for this Huskies offense. He racked in 47 carries for 360 rushing yards and 7 TDs while splitting snaps at Saguaro last season. Brown is a downhill runner, moving with fierceness and toughness through the interior of the line and, getting taken down easily. Tackling Brown is a demanding task as you have to come as powerful as he does, otherwise he will run you over. He also exhibits good blocking technique in pass protection, bringing that same strength and grit hedging off defenders. Brown within a new offensive system is ready to see more snaps to help his new team prosper.

A alternate back to pair with Brown will be 2025 Running Back [player_tooltip player_id='1353850' first='Jeremiah' last='Huckaby']. Last season, he took most of his snaps at the junior varsity level but did get some touches at the varsity level, with one of those carries going for a touchdown. Huckaby is just as much your typical bruiser running back with a reasonable 5'10 205lb frame, able to take on tons of contact and shake off multiple tacklers to continue to pick up yardage. He also displays some elusive ability when getting to the edge, making defenders miss or lose footing before he heads out to the open field, displaying excellent home run speed to the endzone. Watch for this dynamic duo in 2024, especially late in games when teams won't want to tackle Huckaby.

2026 Offensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='992771' first='Rex' last='Waterman'] is going to be a problem for defensive linemen to stop. At a remarkable 6'5 295 lbs, he lined up at a few positions on the offensive line but predominantly lined up at the right tackle position. Waterman is a guy whose game shines brightest in the run game, specifically on his down blocks. He shows sound push and reliable leg drive, shoving defenders into other defensive linemen, creating good space for the ball carrier to burst through. His drive at the point of attack is powerful, especially if defenders don't have their feet underneath them, which he will take full advantage of burying them in the dirt. Waterman is heading into another varsity year as a junior, ready to take the next step in his game for the state to remember his name.

2025 Offensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='954401' first='Liam' last='Mistlebauer'] is a juggernaut on the interior of this Hamilton offensive line. Standing at an impressive 6'3 300lbs, he lined up primarily at the guard position last season for the Huskies. He consistently wins at the point of attack, always getting lower than defenders with stable balance and strong explosiveness to move linemen off the line of scrimmage. Mistlebauer has excellent hustle to land blocks for his teammates downfield, a trait you love to see from your lineman who put their team first despite fatigue. Mistlebauer is a guy you can't overlook this upcoming season on the offense, as he will be a reliable option when you need to gain a few yards to move the sticks.

If you want the archetype for a scrappy inside wide receiver, look no further than 2025 Wide Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='369012' first='Sabriam' last='Torres']. This slot wide receiver plays with a chip on his shoulder and way bigger than his 5'8 frame might suggest. In his junior year, he was able to bring in 15 catches for 267 yards and 2 TDs. Torres has great speed in the slot and out wide, getting excellent releases off the line of scrimmage and burning past cornerbacks downfield, especially in press coverage. He also exhibits immaculate route running that you want to see out your slot receivers, showing sharp cuts and explosive breaks to change direction and get open. When running as the ball carrier or blocking for his teammates, he displays grit and toughness, not backing down from anybody in his way. Looking towards his senior season, Torres is ready to put his team's offense on his back in whatever they need him to get done.

Another Saguaro transfer coming into this Hamilton program will be 2025 Wide Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1244458' first='Reiss' last='Rinaldi']. As a main contributor to the 2023 Saguaro state champion run last season, he hopes to bring that same magic and spark to this Huskies team. Bringing in a Saguaro team leading 47 catches for 457 yards and 4 TDs are exciting statistics if you are a Hamilton fan. Rinaldi will prove to be a reliable option for his new QB right out of the gate, with trustworthy ball skills and an elite ability to adjust back to the football, allowing room for error on throws that might not be highly accurate. He has outstanding yards after the catch, especially on underneath and screen routes, taking them to the first down sticks consistently. Rinaldi hopes to be an immediate impact transfer for this Hamilton offense entering his final high school season.

A unique talent to look for as a receiver and returner this season will be 2025 Wide Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1219863' first='Jacob' last='DeBoy']. Playing almost exclusively at junior varsity in 2023, he slowed the game down for himself and picked up valuable attributes that should translate to varsity this upcoming season. The primary skill being his return ability, which will be his most valuable asset for this Hamilton team. He can bob and weave around defenders with outstanding open field speed and shiftyness. His receiving talents will be a helpful addition as he has good acceleration and downfield threat ability, always posing a threat over the top for opposing defenses. He displays great ability to contort his body, altering to the catch point to reel in the ball. DeBoy moving up to the next level will be an intriguing watch, mainly to see how his skills can aid his team's efforts.
