2024 Team Preview: Chandler Wolves Defense

We will continue to preview teams to cover players that you should be on the lookout for when watching these programs. We will continue in the 6A Premier Division with the Chandler Wolves Defense.    2025 Defensive Lineman Xavier Senior will be seeking to have a big season on this Chandler defense. Standing at 6'1, 210 lbs as a primary outside edge rusher for the Wolves, he saw limited action in 2023, only playing three games. Despite this, he still managed to have 9 total tackles, 3 TFLs, and 2 sacks. He can disengage off offensive linemen effectively, extending with solid arm length and shedding to locate the ball carrier. He has great agility and moves proficiently, especially after QBs outside the pocket, sniffing them out and wrapping up well. Senior plans to stay on the field in the 2024 season in hopes of helping his team achieve its goals.      2025 Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='368948' first='Aidan' last='Browder'] is one of the best linebackers in the state. The senior stands at an ideal frame of 6'2 210lbs for the inside linebacker position, capable of doing it all on defense. In his junior year, he had 68 total tackles, 6.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks for a great campaign last season. He has remarkable instincts, reading his keys and making quick decisions to fly after those ball carriers with impressive burst. He can cover well in either zone or man on TEs and spy well with great athleticism to keep up with QBs. He plays sideline to sideline, covering tons of ground from the middle of the field and tackling well at the position. Browder is committed to Northern Arizona and will be looking to hone his craft more during his senior season for his future colligate career.      2025 Defensive Back [player_tooltip player_id='368967' first='Sean' last='Perez'] will be a staple man in the secondary for the Wolves defense. He was primarily aligning in this hybrid outside linebacker/safety position that the Chandler defense likes to utilize. Last season, he was able to bring in 22 total tackles, 6 of those as solo, and .5 TFLs having only played in 6 games. In this hybrid role, he could be close to the line of scrimmage, either in or just outside of the box, to make tackles for minimal gain. He has nice diagnosis when locating the ball carrier, good angles of pursuit and solid ability to wrap up with reasonable technique. Perez has already received a good amount of offers, but with a productive senior season, he could be hearing from some more distinguished schools.      2025 Defensive Back [player_tooltip player_id='1145609' first='Austin' last='Bradley'] will be the number one outside man for this Chandler defense. At 6'0 170 lbs, he has a lengthy frame that plays to his advantage regarding ball skills and tackling. In his junior year, his stats included 22 total tackles, 2 pass deflections, and an INT. He has great agility and break out of his backpedal, able to react to the football well in the air and come down with it using sound hands. He is a guy opponents want to avoid being tackled by if they are the receiver, as he can chase down anybody on the field with great range and wrap up with his long arms. Bradley will be an essential factor for the Wolves defense to be great this upcoming season.      A thrilling young piece that is being added to an already excellent cast of secondary players will be 2026 Defensive Back [player_tooltip player_id='992819' first='Kamari' last='Crawford']. Playing most of his snaps at the junior varsity level in his sophomore season, he did see the field a couple of times at varsity at the safety position. He balled out in JV, being a ballhawk for his team snagging a few INTs, and had positive plays when he saw the field at varsity with some impact tackles. He has exceptional instincts when reading the play, recognizing best from the depth and using great speed and drive on the ball to make plays. When he slams into his tackles, he does it with emphasis, reminding offenses not to test his direction. Leading into his junior year, Crawford is ready to put the state on notice.      A fresh, new weapon coming into this Chandler team will be 2026 Athlete [player_tooltip player_id='739445' first='Hamisi' last='Juma']. Transferring from in-state at Tolleson High, he predominantly played as a box/strong safety position but did have snaps at wide receiver. In his previous season with the Tolleson Wolverines, he brought in 36 total tackles, 26 of those as solo tackles, 6 forced fumbles, and an INT while only playing 5 games, which are unbelievable numbers for a safety in such short time. Additionally, he had 8 catches for 59 yards and 2 TDs at wide out. In the box, he can read well from this position, locating the ball carrier very well and dashing into the backfield quickly. He doesn't just look to make the tackle, he looks to make game changing plays by swiping at loose balls and creating turnovers. He runs crisp routes on the goal line on offense and makes himself an easy target for QBs with a good vertical to go up and high point balls. Whether Chandler will use Juma on offense or defense this year is still yet to be determined. What is clear though is that the Wolves have a dynamic, high-quality athlete to help their team win.
