Under the Radar- Prospects Making Noise This Offseason!

We are checking out some prospects that have been picking up a lot of steam this offseason. Be sure to keep track of these guys this fall, they're set for huge seasons!    [player_tooltip player_id='1355847' first='Erick' last='Smith'] is an explosive wide receiver prospect out of Southside who has become one of the top passing targets in the state's 2025 class. Smith is a dominant receiver who thrives off his athleticism and hands- he is an explosive route runner, has terrific speed, and has a set of hands that allow him to consistently make tough catches on the ball through contact and heavy coverage. It's really exciting watching his tape, he is a serious deep-threat option that can make some game-changing plays within a moment's notice. All of these traits and more show up on the field, and you can see it in his numbers. Last fall was one of Smith's best seasons yet, he ended the year with 39 receptions for 1121 yards and 8 touchdowns. Smith has seen his recruitment open up a lot over the last year as he's racked up offers from Alabama, Appalachian State, North Alabama, and more! Keep track of what Smith does this fall and at the next level, he's set for a huge senior season in Southsides offense and will be hard to miss!     [player_tooltip player_id='1355849' first='Hayes' last='Formby'] is a terrific offensive line prospect out of Northridge who has been a huge factor in his offense's success over the past few seasons. At 6'4 260, Formby presents a physical challenge for defenses to overcome. He does a terrific job blocking in the run game and in pass protection, very few defensive linemen can match up well against his size, strength, and leverage. It's impressive watching Formby move men out in the open field- he does a great job climbing from level to level to make key blocks for his teammates. Frequently on tape, you can find him opening up wide lanes for the ball carrier to capitalize off greatly. In addition to his abilities in the run game, Formby protects his quarterback very well. He does a great job setting his feet and not allowing defensive linemen to beat him into the backfield, consistently keeping a clean pocket for his QB. With how well he has been playing, Formby is starting to see recruitment open up- he recently picked up an offer from Arkansas State, and with how well he has played he could see more offers heading his way soon. Keep an eye on Formby this year, he's become a reliable piece of Northridge's offensive line and is set for a big junior season this fall!     [player_tooltip player_id='1355851' first='Marquez' last='Daniel'] is a dominant athlete out of Booker T Washington that has a ton of great things for his team's offense and defense, especially last fall. Daniel is a bigtime athlete that can be plugged and played at any position his coaches need him at. On offense, Daniel is a highly productive wide receiver capable of making some incredible catches at every level of the field. He does a great job utilizing his size and speed to beat defensive backs and make catches over the top of them. On defense, Daniel is just as capable of making big plays- he is a fantastic tackler and does a great job using his hands to bring in interceptions and break up passes. Daniel had his best season yet last fall- on offense, he totaled up 33 receptions for 640 yards and 9 touchdowns, and on defense, he had a great year recording 46 total tackles, 8 interceptions, and 4 pass breakups. With production like that, collegiate attention has started heading Daniel's way. He has had a busy summer, receiving offers from tons of top-tier programs like LSU, Auburn, Florida State, and plenty more     [player_tooltip player_id='1355857' first='Cedrick' last='Simmons'] is an up-and-coming wide receiver prospect out of Southside who looks to be one of the top pass catchers in the state's 2027 class. Simmons is a really quick wide receiver that easily gains lots of separation with how well he runs his routes. It's really impressive watching Simmons do what he does as an underclassman, he already has a strong understanding of defenses and what he needs to do to take advantage of them. Simmons also has a great set of hands that allow him to consistently make catches regardless of where he is on the field, he's able to get open so easily that he's a constant threat to secondaries no matter what route he runs. Last fall was a great freshman season for Simmons, he already has a lot of talents and skills that don't go unnoticed by teams at the next level. Simmons just recently picked up an offer from North Alabama, and with his potential, it definitely won't be the last. Be sure to watch out for Simmons going forward, as an underclassman he already has become a solid contributor for Southside's offense and has a bright future ahead of him!
