In their first two years as a program the Patriots despite playing a very difficult independent schedule have maintained .500 level play or better. I stand by he is a FCS level player but if he ends up at a division 2 program whomever the school may be will not be disappointed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1224342' first='Andrew' last='Hamad'] had an outstanding junior season for Virginia Academy and should have more opportunities to make plays in 2024. He had a darn good junior season with 41 receptions and 8 touchdowns, but I think with a year in his system his senior stats will be eye popping. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The young man may be one of the fastest kids in the county and has many fcs schools very curious. An explosive receiver at 6'2 Trump has been clocked in at a 4.47 40. Really excels in the run game and his pass blocking has improved each season. Resto has been one of the most highly talented qbs in Northern Virginia these last couple of years. Playing really well first with Centreville High School were he earned all-district honors and last year at Mount Zion Prep. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This kid is tough in the pocket, he can take a hit and deliver a strike. Throws very well on the run too, Resto could see some division of fcs looks after this year. When Fortune announced his intentions to enroll back in March this is what I wrote:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Fortune is 6'3 245 lbs and move incredible well for his position group. He can play both end or tackle for Coach Woods defense, which is a scary thought considering all the talent they had coming back on that side of the ball anyhow. Love the way he comes off the football making himself a very tough block right out of the snap. He knows how to shed blockers and plays the run just as well that he does the pass. He has good make up speed and you rarely see him play out of position, he always seems to be around the football. Another nice building block for VA Academy they are going to be a tough out this fall.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Head Coach's Thoughts on the off-season: </strong><em>"We had a great offseason.  Played our first spring game which gave the guys a taste of the action.  Had a great college 7s circuit where we played in a couple of championship games.  Players did a great job competing at camps and putting VAA name on the map.  Excited about league play in the East Coast Power Prep Conference and playing some local teams</em>. '' Head Coach Obie Woods</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Season Outlook:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You really do have the sense that year three is when Virginia Academy is going to go from competitive to elite. This is not to blow smoke the Patriots have a defense littered with Division 1 and Power 5 prospects. Only allowing one opponent to score over 25 points in 2023, this may be one of top units in the state. Offensively they have firepower on the outside and Resto at quarterback should be a winning combination.
