PRZPA Team Preview, Susquehanna Township

<p><strong>Season Outlook</strong>: Susquehanna Township had a successful season when they went 7-4 last year. They lost to Manheim Central in the 1st round of the PIAA Playoffs. They bring back a talented roster and should have a chance to increase the win total this season. </p>   <p><strong>Current Head Coach</strong>: Joe Headen</p>   <p><strong>Top returning prospects for the 2024 season</strong>:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='386309' first='Lex' last='Cyrus'] is one of the best prospects in the class of 2025. He has legit speed and just glides past defenders as a wide receiver. He has a great combination of speed and elusiveness. The other day he committed to South Carolina. Below is what I wrote about him in the past:<br></p>   <p class="text-gray-700">"<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='386309' first='Lex' last='Cyrus']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/lex-cyrus/"></a> is one of the fastest players in the state. He lived up to that hype when he won the 100-meter dash at the PIAA State Track Meet. Cyrus is a good football player as well. Cyrus has legit speed. When a defender gives him space he can run by them. Cyrus is really good after the catch. Several times on film he was thrown a simple hitch route and he turned it into a big play. He does a nice job of firing off the ball and blocking defensive tackles. He is a mauler off the ball in the run game. He just drives defensive players off the ball. He is a great combination blocker where he blocks defensive tackles and peels off to block linebackers. As a pass blocker, he moves his feet well and stays in front of pass rushers. Lubold is a good interior offensive lineman prospect. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/LuboldMason/status/1809766385737711831 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1317110' first='Alfonso' last='Burnett'] is a legit cornerback who can do it all. He is equally as good in man-to-man as he is in zone coverage. At man-to-man coverage, he has great skills. He can lock down receivers and not let them get open. In zone coverage, he does a nice job of playing deep and also coming upfield to take shorter pass plays away. He is also good as a tackler in the open field. He can make all the throws and has all the tools needed to be an elite quarterback. He has been visiting a ton of Colleges this summer. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year: </p>   <p>"<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='402468' first='Torin' last='Evans']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/torin-evans/"></a> played at a high level as a quarterback last year for Susquehanna Township. He has excellent mechanics and footwork in the pocket. He throws with good anticipation. He knows exactly where he wants to throw the ball and throws with excellent anticipation. Evans also is good in the run game. He is good on designed run plays, but running for tough yards. He shows a good burst when he runs with the ball. He can run any route especially and has excellent hands. He has good speed and runs past defenders. He is good after the catch by making defenders miss in space. He has been busy this summer visiting a ton of colleges. He should have some good opportunities to play College Football. Kern has a ton of potential as a wide receiver. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/jarrett_kern4/status/1810137874701979940 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='402477' first='Yendor' last='Mack'] is one of the better offensive linemen in the 2026 class. He has all the skills to play at a high level going forward. He should have some good opportunities to play at the College level down the road. Below is what my colleagues [player_tooltip player_id='1156407' first='Vic' last='Castillo'] said about him earlier this year:</p>   <p>"Susquehanna's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='402477' first='Yendor' last='Mack']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/yendor-mack/"></a> outpaces both Miller and Bonnet in terms of rank, that's tough to do. A swing tackle who can play both sides of the line, primaries as a run blocker, however. I usually value tackles who can provide a bit of both ends of the spectrum, yet I cannot deny this young man's overt power on tape. A mauler, a ton of displacement found in each rep, witnessed driving kids 15/20 yards off the ball. The motor is top-tier, the tenacity is prevalent. Pancake after pancake, is an off-the-snap jolter who quickly get kids out of position early in reps. You're going to need to win with speed and try to limit your body surface area attempting to win against this kid, if he lands his punches and gets a hold of your numbers, you're going to taste dirt. Would love to see how he works at IDL. Not to much baby fat on screen either, looks like a good/muscular 255/260. He has the speed and the skills to be an elite receiver. Leaks has been competing at multiple 7 on 7 tournaments this summer. He should eventually get some College Football looks. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year: </p>   <p>"In a talented wide receiver group at Susquehanna Township, Leaks should not be overlooked. He has all the skills at wide receiver. He has legit speed and can run by defenders. He is particularly good when he gets off the ball and runs a fade route. He just runs past defenders. He catches the ball well in traffic in between defenders then turns upfield to make a big play. Leaks is a talented receiver in the 2026 class". </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/LeaksZikhere_/status/1806741630453457115 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='402449' first='Jayden' last='Riley'] is a good defensive lineman who can play up and down the defensive line. The ability to play as both a defensive tackle and as a defensive end is impressive. At both positions, he is hard to move off the ball. He has good strength and he uses that to push offensive linemen off the ball into the offensive backfield. He also gets off the ball quickly and shows a nimbleness as a defensive tackle. Finally, he also has a motor that never stops. Riley has all the tools to play at a high level going into his Junior year. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/cantstopjay24/status/1804221196780867886 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1181585' first='Qua'Meir' last='Kelly'] has great size for a defensive tackle. He has limited film but shows he has the potential to be a good defensive tackle. He needs to be able to work on his stance and how he fires off the ball. He also could get in better shape so he can play longer periods. Regardless Kelly has a chance to be a good player as a defensive tackle.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='819171' first='Darian' last='Brown'] has limited film, but shows good skills as a wide receiver. He runs excellent routes and he is able to catch the ball in tight windows as well. He also showed a good ability to make difficult catches. Brown also shows excellent speed the way he runs past defenders. He should have a chance to be a bigger contributer next season. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1325945' first='Garee' last='Mathes'] played outside linebacker for Susquehanna Township last year. He does a nice job of reading and reacting to the play and then triggering upfield to make a play. He is undersized for the position but a good athlete, so he makes up for it. He does an excellent job of dropping in pass coverage and making a play on passes thrown in his direction. He is an excellent tackler, especially in the open field.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Ka'Seemh Singleton Brown played as a middle linebacker for Susquehanna Township last year. He shows good instincts and he can attack downhill. Once he makes a decision he shows good speed to track down offensive players. He does an excellent job of reading, reacting to the play, and attacking downhill. He also shows good speed by running sideline-to-sideline to make plays. Brown has a chance to continue to play better next season.</p>    <p><strong>Finals Thoughts</strong>: Susquehanna Township is a talented team. They have some talented skilled kids and linemen as well. They should be able to compete and possibly win the Mid-Penn Colonial Conference next season. </p>
