After winning only 5 games combined in 2022 and 2023, the Eagles started off 5-0 and won 8 games. Aruta has a skillset that is rare to find. He can play almost anywhere and make a major impact for his team. Last year he was primarily a running quarterback and he was excellent in this Eagles ground attack. Aruta ran for over 1,000 yards and also proved that he was able to throw the ball last season. At the Rutgers 7v7 this summer he played all over and was fantastic. Williams was named the AA-1 offensive player of the year, he was the first player from St Peter's to win that award. Williams ran wild last season, registering 1,228 yards on the ground with 16 touchdowns. Williams isn't the biggest but he is deceptively powerful while running the football. Williams has excellent vision and constantly pulled off successful runs last year. Kielty will be the anchor for this Eagles front and is a true leader for this group. Kielty has looked great during the camp circut. He isn't the tallest player, but he makes up for it with a high football IQ and excellent technique. He still stands at 6'1 and 270 pounds, Kielty has shown a lot of power in his game and will be opening up a ton of holes in the middle for this ground game. Scolaro doesn't jump off the page with his size or speed but he comes to play and produces on the field. Last season he recorded 7 interceptions and brought one back to the house. He matched up with some terrific receivers last season and he rose to the challenge. Scolaro was great against them in man coverage and had a numerous amount of pass breakups. D'Ameilo played outside linebacker last season and showed his versatility. He has good coverage skills and was able to defend the pass well in critical situations. He also showcased his speed coming off the edge. D'Amelio delivered some hard hits and was a reliable tackler. This upcoming season he will be playing inside linebacker. Ramos is listed at 6'2 and 185 pounds, and moves very well. He's a basketball player, but he made the switch to the gridiron last season and you could see his natural athleticism when he steps out onto the field. Ramos is big, fast and strong, he'll be a very talented safety for this St Peter's defense. They will play two Staten Island games at the top of their schedule. They play under the lights against PSAL's Wagner High School. They also will host St Joe's by the Sea for their home opener. The Eagles will get a crack at three AAA teams this season. They face off against Kellenberg and Archbishop Stepinac. St Peter's will also host Monsignor Farrell in another Staten Island Battle. But the Eagles didn't back down last year as they almost reached the AA title. Now they are in the conversation here in the preseason to make a run for a championship. The Eagles have a ton of great skill players. Their line may be inexperienced but they have a tremendous coaching staff that has developed this senior class to become one of the best in the city.
