Overall, CSP had a really fantastic season in 2023. They rolled through the Class D division, winning 10 straight enroute to their 3rd Section VI title under Head Coach Ty Harper. From there, The Wolfpack entered the NYS playoffs defeating Section V Champions, Canisteo-Greenwood but ultimately losing in the semi-finals to a very good Tioga Tigers football team from Section IV.

[player_tooltip player_id='451481' first='Bryce' last='Hinsdale'] is a fantastic athlete and does it all for CSP. As a Junior, he was a 1st team All Western New York and 1st Team All State Wide Receiver recording 52 receptions for 502 yards and 9 touchdowns. He just as well could have made those honors at Defensive Back where he snagged 5 interceptions. Hinsdale is a ballhawk that opposing teams need to account for on every play.

[player_tooltip player_id='648989' first='Tate' last='Catanese'] is heading into his 3rd year as CSP's varsity signal caller. He is a precision passer and holds a completion percentage of 64.3% in his previous 2 seasons. Catanese is as dangerous with his legs as he is with his arm, running for almost 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Although they won a Section VI title last year, this dual threat QB will look to improve not just by repeating as sectional champs but taking CSP back to State for the first time since 2019.

As with most players in Class D, [player_tooltip player_id='806438' first='Alex' last='Barmore'] is a two-way starter. Not just that but a two-way stud. As a speedy DE, he racked up 9 sacks as a junior. On the offensive side of the ball, Barmore is a big target that can also stretch the field at TE. Alex has already received a Division I collegiate offer from Mercyhurst. A big senior year will bring him more accolades and more offers.

This is really a crapshoot as CSP will be looking for a replacement at Running Back. They may go by committee but at 6'2 224 lbs., Travis Owens has that size and power to be a workhorse.
2024 Outlook

Current Head Coach: Ty Harper (Entering his 10th season)

Only way to get better is by improving your competition. That is exactly what CSP's 2024 schedule is showing. They open up the season on the road against reigning Class C state Champions from Section IV, the Waverly Wolverines. Then outside of their routine Class D opponents, the Wolfpack will play host to Class B powerhouse, Lackawanna and a much improved Lake Shore Eagles program.

3 Things Going For The Wolfpack

A coaching staff that knows how to win. Under Ty Harper, CSP has won 3 Section VI titles, as well as 2 State Championships

The tandem of [player_tooltip player_id='648989' first='Tate' last='Catanese'] and [player_tooltip player_id='451481' first='Bryce' last='Hinsdale'] is a special one and will be difficult for teams to defend

An opportunistic defense led by Senior, [player_tooltip player_id='1212854' first='Collin' last='Ryan']. Their LBs and DBs combined for 17 interceptions, 9 fumble recoveries and 5 touchdowns last season. Many of those players will be back in 2024.

1 Area of Concern

Their running game. It is still up in the air who will replace 2023 leading rusher, Bryce Posker. I don't doubt that CSP will be able to establish the ground game but who that will be and how effective it will be remains to be seen.

The Last Word

CSP has a much tougher schedule than last season and that's the way they want it. Regardless of how they fair against Waverly, I don't see any reason why the Wolfpack won't be an effective force in Section VI. Their top playmakers last season were mostly juniors so they will be back this season with more experience and a desire to not only win Section VI but win a NYS Championship.
