Notable DFW Running Backs to Watch in 2024

<p>Get your popcorn ready!! The 2024 season is just around the corner and every team is getting ready to hit the field. The DFW area is stacked with some of the top talent in the state. The running back position is one where on any given Friday you could pull up and see a talented player go off. For this article we spotlight several running backs who are flying under the radar and a couple who are top returning rushers in the state.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Rogers has a compact, powerful build, he has a stout lower half and he runs with a low center of gravity. He has explosion and burst through the hole, which enables him to get north quickly. Rogers has excellent vision in the hole, he sets up his blocks well and he has the ability to cut back against the grain in the open field. He is a weapon out of the backfield in the passing game and Rogers has the quickness to get open on any pass route. Rogers was a key contributor for Anna in 2023 and helped lead them to a state title. He is one the top returners for an Anna who is making the move to 5A in 2024. He runs with excellent pad level and he is a powerful runner who breaks arm tackles easily. Leonel runs with a purpose, he has a toolbox full of moves that he uses to make defenders miss in the open field and he can turn a short run into a big play for six. Anguiano is a skilled receiver out of the backfield who runs crisp routes. He was a key cog in the Prosper offense that made a playoff appearance in 2023. He was selected 2nd Team All-District in a district that included, Allen, Denton Guyer and McKinney. Leonel returns to help lead the way for Prosper in his senior season. He uses his stout, compact build to break tackles at the second level. At 6-foot 220 pounds, Carlos runs with excellent pad level and he has powerful lower half that contributes to his strong leg drive. Leonard Jr. has seen significant playing time at both tight end and linebacker for Little Elm. When lines up at tight end, he runs sharp routes and he has strong reliable hands that he uses to be a sure handed target. After watching some cut ups of his spring film, it appears he is to be poised to be the featured back in the Little Elm offense. He is a strong runner in between the tackles and he has low center of gravity that makes him difficult to tackle. Robinson is a productive blocker, he is stout at the point of attack and his ability to hold his ground in pass protection enables to be a factor in the passing game. He is the complete package of speed, power, elite quickness and he is a home run threat at the running back position. Garnett had a record breaking junior season. He broke the single season rushing touchdown record at Liberty Christian by scoring 29 times in 2023. He had over 1,800 yards from scrimmage while helping Liberty Christian win a state championship. Chase was selected 1st Team All-District and he was voted as the District MVP. Garnett had double digit offers from schools such as, Sam Houston State, Tulsa, Minnesota and Boise State. He recently committed to South Florida. He is phonebooth quick, he changes gears quickly without breaking stride and he has the speed to create separation at the second level. Michael is an explosive playmaker with football in his hands and he accounted for 800 total yards from scrimmage with 13 touchdowns while playing on both sides of the ball. He registered 32 tackles and 2 interceptions defensively in 2023. Henderson III is an athlete that you want to pull up on and see in person.
