The 2027 rankings were published today by Prep Redzone Kansas.

The class now includes 145 ranked athletes and 45 new athletes.

Athletes, parents, and coaches can click on the “How We Rank” story under the “Rankings” menu to learn more about the process of ranking players.

The position an athlete plays factored into many of the fluctuations in this round of updates. I have seen a recent definite trend in how college coaches are recruiting athletes from Kansas.

It is also important to note that these athletes are still very young and could change positions, transfer to other schools, or pick another sport over football to play collegiately.

While I strive for perfection, I also understand that mistakes and typos happen. If you have questions about the rankings or see a mistake please feel free to DM me on social media @KSScoutDeck or email me at deckscoutks@gmail.com.

Remember you attract more bees with honey than you do vinegar. If you send me a negative or rude email do not expect a reply. Also, keep in mind that, we do not update rankings on a week-to-week basis. Once an athlete is ranked in a spot, they stay there until the next round of rankings.

This is the second report featuring players in the Kansas Class of 2027. This report focuses on some of the top newcomers to the rankings. The majority of these athletes have very little film to analyze and were either seen in person or connected with Prep Redzone scouts via social media.

[player_tooltip player_id='1299418' first='Garrison' last='Oatis'], DL, 6'2”, 210, Free State

Oatis debuts at No. 40 overall. He is a physical defensive lineman who will continue to get stronger and hone his pass-rushing technique.

[player_tooltip player_id='1277778' first='Shawn' last='Kirksey'], OL, 6'1”, 280, Wichita Heights

Kirksey debuts at No. 41 overall. Kirksey was added to the rankings after being featured by Wichita-Area scout Wade Cargile. Cargile described Kirksey as having “a powerful base and heavy hands.”

[player_tooltip player_id='1277775' first='Henry' last='Houser'], DL, 6'4”, 230, Blue Valley North

A space-eating defensive lineman from Blue Valley North debuts at No. 42 overall. Houser is another prospect first featured by Cargile. Houser was described as a defensive lineman who fights “through traffic to get to the quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='1293154' first='Ean' last='Winsor'], OL, 6'4”, 280, Holton

Winsor debuts at No. 43. The Holton lineman is a physical lineman with length. He has been participating in camps and combines this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324162' first='Austin' last='Jordan'], OL, 5'11”, 240, Eudora

Jordan debuts at No. 44. I scouted Jordan during Eudora's scrimmage at Basehor-Linwood and he competed well at Shawnee Heights' Battle of the Bigs. He scored high in that event in both the Sled Pull and Sled Push events.

[player_tooltip player_id='1248293' first='Dahzael' last='Castillo'], OL, 5'7”, 210, Oxford

Castillo debuts at No. 45. Castillo is a prospect discovered via social media. He participated in a camp at Emporia State and is a solid self-promoter on social media. That's the kind of work and commitment a prospect from small-school Oxford needs to get noticed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1161942' first='Keon' last='King'], DB, 6'0”, 145, Blue Valley Northwest

King debuts at No. 46. King entered the rankings after being featured by Cargile. He believes that King is a “suffocating defensive back,” or a prospect who could play linebacker in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1328816' first='Treyaire' last='McDaniel'], DB, 5'9”, 140, Wichita Northwest

McDaniel debuts at No. 47. He is a talented defensive back who shined during the 7 v 7 season for the Wichita Wheat.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275247' first='Alex' last='Huston'], LB, 6'2”, 195, Seaman

Huston debuts at No. 48. Huston is a young prospect at Seaman from a football family. He has yet to establish a primary position but could see time at running back, defensive line, or linebacker during his sophomore season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324160' first='Elijah' last='Clobes'], LB, 6'0”, 175, Eudora

Clobes debuts at No. 49. I was impressed with his play in a summer scrimmage. He has a solid combination of size and speed. He can make snot-bubble tackles on opposing backs.
