Like almost every region in the state, Region VI-2A will be a new look but with a wealth of talent. This region will feature a ton of two-way standouts and a couple of linemen that we think will end up being very good.

Here is a look at the players we think can build on a successful 2023 campaign and give their teams the best hope in 2024.

ACADEMIC MAGNET RAPTORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1811126' first='Cole' last='Ivey'] RB/CB, 2027

Ivey got an early introduction to the varsity level and that might pay off this season. He totaled 422 all-purpose yards last season with a touchdown and an interception. He should be featured more this season. He saw limited touches on offense but was a great kick returner and added 28 tackles on defense. Those numbers could again double this season.

ANDREW YELLOW JACKETS

[player_tooltip player_id='1013054' first='Brandon' last='Cumbee'] ATH, 2025 5-10, 160

Cumbee (pictured) will be the QB for Andrews, but he could fit in just about anywhere. He rushed for nearly 1,000 yards a season ago and if he wasn't so valuable taking snaps, he could play running back or wide receiver. He could double as a defensive back as well. He's explosive and looks to run whenever given the chance.

BURKE BULLDOGS

Allen Rouse RB/DB, 2025

Rouse is a scat back that explodes with his first step. He has great vision and can make guys miss by putting his foot in the ground and making a move. Rouse also plays defensive back and plays a lot bigger than his frame might indicate. The Bulldogs went winless in 2023 but Rouse gives them a solid building block.

PHILIP SIMMONS IRON HORSES

[player_tooltip player_id='502413' first='Tavien' last='Orellana'] QB, 2025 5-11, 185

Orellana had the pleasure to learn while he had two running backs that combined for over 3,000 yards. He threw for less than 1,000 yards last season but there was little reason for the Iron Horses to put the ball in the air much. He throws a nice deep ball and can scramble out of the pocket if necessary. He could easily see his numbers double this season.

TIMBERLAND WOLVES

[player_tooltip player_id='473011' first='Desmond' last='Green'] OL, 2026

You want to see a player that has his recruiting hitting another level? Try on Green. He's got all the major colleges after him, and we see the reason why. The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder has great feet, plays with impressive leverage and his arm length and wingspan make him a prototypical tackle. Green will only get better over the next two years and be ready to go when he steps on a college campus.

WOODLAND WOLVERINES

[player_tooltip player_id='473028' first='Donovan' last='Miles'] OL/DL, 2026 6-2, 280

Miles is a player that fell under the shadow of Kam Pringle last season, but the college recruiters will still find their way to Woodland to see Miles. He's 6-foot-2, 280 pounds and plays with a high motor. He is a two-way player, and his highlights show more of the defensive side of the ball. He could develop enough to be an option on either line of scrimmage.
