CCC Spartanburg: 2028/2029 QB/WR Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>SPARTANBURG | </strong>The rising sophomores and juniors at the quarterback and wide receiver position that were featured at last Sunday's Carolinas Coaches Combine at Spartanburg have a lot of potential to contribute to their individual teams heading into the 2026 season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at 20 players that caught our eye from the two skill positions one week ago yesterday:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Seldon Pedon</strong> | QB | Christ Church</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pedon has a solid release on his throws, and he caught our eye with a throw out to his left where he was able to step into it and make an accurate throw. The rising sophomore is athletic to where he can scramble around and create plays with his feet, as we saw on his JV film from 2026. He threw for 209 passing yards and five touchdowns, which tied the school's JV record in a game against Carolina. We'll be interested to see what he does with another year of development.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1612450' first='Landon' last='Robinson'] </strong>| QB | Lake Wylie</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Robinson will compete for the starting quarterback job as the Lake Wylie Chargers begin their inaugural season in 2026 under coach Nick Pelham, who comes to the Catawba River Region from White Knoll. Robinson has a nice velocity on his throws, particularly on the out route from what we saw at last week's combine. He comes to the Chargers from nearby Clover, where he excelled on the JV team. He has good pocket presence to be able to stand in and make accurate throws. He also has the arm to launch it deep and let his receivers go make plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1823486' first='Jeremih' last='Brown'] </strong>| WR | Daniel</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There was one play that Wallace made that caught our attention, where he was able to high point the ball, make the catch and then get up field for more yards. He runs good routes and knows how to find the green grass and get open. He can play inside in the slot or on the outside and make great catches. The opportunity for the rising sophomore to see more playing time on varsity should be there, and we think he could be a valuable asset for the Lions in 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='379090' first='Ryan' last='Brochu'] </strong>| QB | York</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brochu will give his receivers a chance to go up and make catches. He has a nice release and can launch it downfield, like what we saw during last Sunday's combine. He puts it where only they can get it as well. He has the size and the height that you are looking for and has good pocket presence. The rising sophomore appears to be the leader in the clubhouse to take over as the starting quarterback for the Cougars in 2026 after sitting behind Tayshon Freeman, and we think he could be on tap for a big year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1615038' first='Emerson' last='James'] </strong>| WR/DB | Byrnes</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>James made a nice catch in stride and was able to beat one-on-one coverage consistently throughout last Sunday's combine. He has great speed, as he ran a laser-timed 4.66 in the 40-yard dash. He played at defensive back primarily for the Rebels in 2025 and made an impact, whether it's coming down in run support or playing well out in coverage. We'll be interested to see if the Rebels use him as a two-way player or if he stays primarily on defense in 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2071106' first='Mason' last='Burt'] </strong>| WR/DB | Fort Mill</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Burt primarily plays at defensive back, but during Sunday's combine, we got to see him at wide receiver. He made an excellent catch with a man draped all over him, showing great concentration in the process. At defensive back for the Jackets in 2025, he was not afraid to get his hands dirty and make tackles. He recognized plays quickly and can run with the best of them. He has the quickness that you want to see from the position and ability to cover sideline to sideline as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1773739' first='Coleson' last='Marino'] </strong>| WR | Emerald</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marino did a nice job of high pointing the ball for a completion in one rep that we saw during Sunday's combine. He can beat one-on-one coverage consistently for big completions, which is what he did a lot during the 2025 season. He also can make quick catches and get up field, but he can also make people miss in the process and run people over.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1600293' first='Davis' last='Taylor']</strong> | QB | River Bluff</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Taylor saw time as a freshman in 2026 for the Gators, and showed off his great arm during last Sunday's combine. He puts it in a position where his guys can go make catches and get up field for more yardage. One underrated part of his game is his ability to make plays with his feet. He has some wheels on him and if you blink, you'll miss him because he's already 10 to 15 yards up field. We'll be interested to see what he does in 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jamarion Anderson </strong>| WR | Spartanburg</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Anderson made a great catch on the dig, and then did a good job of getting up field for a completion during last Sunday's combine. He shows a good ability to move sideline to sideline, as we saw during the pro shuttle where he finished with a time of 4.5.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1816896' first='Jonah' last='Young'] </strong>| QB | Rock Hill</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Young will put the ball where his receiver can go make plays on it, and that's what we saw during last Sunday's combine. The Bearcats were able to use his skill set to their advantage last year, as he threw for over 1600 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2025. Now with a full offseason to continue to develop chemistry with his receivers and receivers from around the state with events like this one, we're interested to see what 2026 holds for him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1633095' first='Curtis' last='Bell'] </strong>| WR | Woodruff</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bell made an excellent diving catch on one rep during last Sunday's combine, and that's a microcosm of what we think Bell's potential could be in 2026. He can beat one-on-one coverage and find ways to get open. He runs routes at full speed and knows how to find the green grass. There was one play on his film on a quick screen to the outside where he caught it and got up field quickly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2177579' first='PJ' last='Deveaux'] </strong>| WR | Crescent</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Deveaux caught our eye with his route running on one rep during the competition period with the defensive backs. He ran a good inside route for a completion and caught the ball with his eyes and hands. He has good lateral movement from sideline to sideline, as we saw in the pro shuttle, finishing with a time of 4.55.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1848408' first='Easton' last='Crocker'] </strong>| QB | Lexington</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Crocker put the ball where only his teammate <strong>Victor Kaczenski</strong> could catch it. Kaczenki then did a nice job of getting up field to get more yards. Crocker is a two sport athlete for the Wildcats playing baseball, and can make plays with his feet and his arm when he can load up and make accurate throws from what we saw on his film. Mind you, he'll be a sophomore in 2026, so it will be fun to watch what happens.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1840061' first='Gage' last='Watkins'] </strong>| QB | JL Mann</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Watkins was patient in waiting for his receivers to get open and for the routes to develop in the reps that we saw him take during last Sunday's combine. The same can be said when you go back and turn on the film from 2025. He can launch it deep and let his receivers go make plays on it or he can drop it down to the back on a quick shallow to get up field for a 10 to 15 yard completion, helping keep the offense on schedule.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1467825' first='Matt' last='Kucia'] </strong>| QB | Indian Land</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kucia has pinpoint accuracy on his throws, and he will get it to his guys quickly and let them go make the plays, like we saw on a completion to Hillcrest's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1724433' first='Kadyn' last='Stevenson'] </strong>(pictured above)<strong> </strong>where Stevenson was able to stack the defender and get into the end zone. Kucia led the Warriors to the upper state semifinals last year, and threw for 3000 yards and 26 touchdowns. With the talent returning for the Warriors, the potential is there for them to light up scoreboards in the Catawba River Region again.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1818200' first='David' last='Quattlebaum'] </strong>| WR | Gray Collegiate</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quattlebaum ran an excellent post route for a touchdown during one rep that we saw during the competition period against the defensive backs. He also turned some heads in the 40-yard dash, running a 4.76 and showing good lateral movement from sideline to sideline, running a 4.57 in the pro shuttle. We anticipate his opportunities to get touches should increase for the War Eagles heading into 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1817840' first='Walker' last='Burdette'] </strong>| QB | Byrnes</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Burdette made a nice connection to a receiver towards the back end of the session, showing off his ability to read the coverage and spin it to his receivers. Burdette will battle for the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/04/on-campus-byrnes-rebels/">Rebels starting quarterback job in 2026</a>, and an event like this can only help him develop as he works to separate himself by the time early to mid August rolls around.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>COMBINE NOTABLE: </em></strong>Emerald WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1822754' first='Desiray' last='Christian'] </strong>registered 32 reps on the bench press.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
