As we head into the end of June, the start of the 2024 high school football season is coming closer and closer. With that being said, I wanted to take some time to focus on some players at each position that I am expecting a breakout year from this season. These players include those stepping into bigger roles as well as those I'm simply expecting to see a rise in production from. To kick off this series, here are some quarterbacks in the state of Kentucky that I expect to take the next step this season!

[player_tooltip player_id='401922' first='Mario' last='Litmer'] is a quarterback who has been high on my radar for a while now. As a sophomore, he split time at quarterback with a senior but he was very productive when on the field, completing 66/94 passes for 1,110 yards, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions in 13 games. He has very impressive accuracy, showing the ability to fit passes into tight windows with ease where only his intended receiver can catch it. Litmer also has the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. He also finished this past season with 13 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Mario doesn't currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way as he takes the reigns as the full-time starter as he has already received some college interest and I believe he is a Division I caliber quarterback prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1175787' first='Jordan' last='Williams'] is a very talented quarterback who has served as a backup role the past couple season and will be looking to take over as the starter for Male this season. Williams has a very strong arm which he is able to use to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. He has also shown impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit receivers out of their breaks so that they can make catches in stride. Jordan hasn't received any offers but I expect a lot of eyes to be on him as he takes over as the starter this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1176270' first='Justus' last='Wertzler'] is a quarterback who has truly caught my attention this summer in the camp circuit. He is coming off a solid junior year in which he completed 54/105 passes for 915 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions in 10 games. Wertzler has a cannon for an arm which he is able to use to stretch the field and make all the tough throws you could ask him to. He also has an impressive quick release, showing the ability to get the ball out in a hurry to hit his receivers in stride out of their breaks. Wertzler has also shown the ability to make plays with his legs, finishing this past season with 44 carries for 248 yards and two touchdowns. Justus currently holds offers from Presbyterian and Kentucky Wesleyan, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber quarterback prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='401929' first='Tyree' last='Stoner'] is a very intriguing quarterback prospect who has come back to Kentucky after spending last season as Charleston High School in West Virginia. Stoner has impressive arm talent, showing the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game along with the touch to put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. He is also impressive when escaping the pocket, showing the ability to keep his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Tyree is also electric as a ball carrier, showing the speed and elusiveness to break away on long runs at any given moment. Stoner currently holds an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan and I expect more to come his way as he takes the reins is a high-powered CAL offense this season.

The final quarterback in the state of Kentucky that I expect to have a breakout year this season is [player_tooltip player_id='1311244' first='Mason' last='Trimble']. Trimble served as the backup last season but will be looking to step into the starting role as a junior. Mason throws an impressive deep ball, showing the ability to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride. In the short/intermediate passing game, he has shown impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit his receivers out of their breaks where only they can catch the ball. Trimble doesn't currently hold any offers but I expect a lot of eyes to be on him this season as he takes over as the starter for the Tigers.
