He did an excellent job of dropping into the flat and properly reading what the offense is doing on each play. If it was a run he did a nice job of coming up and making a tackle in the open field. If it is a pass he did a nice job of dropping in his zone and covering receivers. He also showed an ability to make plays. He is good at blitzing off the edge and putting pressure on the offense. Patterson showed he belonged on the football field.

Josiah Adams Josiah Adams 6'0" | 150 lbs | DB Bonner-Prendie | 2026 State PA does two things well from his cornerback position for Bonner-Prendie. The 1st thing he is good at is he is a lockdown corner in man-to-man coverage. The 2nd thing he does well is blitz off the edge. As a lockdown cornerback, he is dog at covering receivers. He has good athleticism and speed to cover receivers. Blitzing off the edge is the other thing he is good at. He does a great job of blitzing and putting pressure on the offense. Adams shows some elite skills at cornerback. He recently picked up and offer from Kent State. I expect more to come his way.

Jamaal Payne played as a defensive back for Charleroi last year. He does a nice job at both zone coverage and man-to-man defense. At man-to-man coverage, he does a nice job of keeping his feet in front of receivers when they are running routes. Then when the ball is thrown in his direction he does an excellent job of getting his hands on the ball to break up the pass. He also does a good job in run support by coming upfield to make tackles in the open field. Payne has the tools to continue to play at a high level at defensive back.
Chase Szollose Chase Szollose 5'10" | 155 lbs | DB West Chester East | 2026 State PA played as a cornerback last year for West Chester East. He has a linebacker mindset at cornerback, meaning he is an aggressive and physical tackler. Many corners struggle with tackling Szollose has a nose for it and does a nice job tackling. He is a good tackler especially in the open field when he is on an island. He played mostly in a deep zone coverage type of defense and he did a solid job of keeping his cushion and then making a play on the ball when it was thrown in his direction. Szollose is a talented prospect in the 2026 class.

I remember being impressed with him at the showcase and then I went back and looked at his film and came away impressed with his ability to play as a defensive back. He has position versatility. He can play as a cornerback, strong safety, and as a free safety. As a cornerback, he shows good coverage skills. As a strong safety, he does a good job of coming upfield and making tackles in the open field. He isn’t afraid to stick his nose inside the make tackles in the run game. As a free safety, he has good deep coverage skills. Brown has good skill set and is a legit defensive back.
