[player_tooltip player_id='245544' first='Malachi' last='Curvey'], Ankeny Centennial

Ranking: No. 1 ATH/No. 8 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Some folks (including me) thought Iowa State was a shoe-in for Curvey. His brother played there. But he chose Kansas. The Jayhawks recruited him as a linebacker, but he does have position flexibility. That would include upside on offense at receiver or tight end. Curvey is a dynamic outside linebacker. His speed and ability to change directions quickly help him lock down in coverage. As good as he is at that, he's even better playing the run. Curvey is a reliable tackler with good instincts on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='847948' first='Mason' last='Woods'], Iowa City West

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Woods will be playing his fourth season of varsity this coming fall. He's stood out on both sides of the ball in the state's large-school class. Some college coaches like what they see from Woods on defense. He's a play-making safety that can cover and arrive at the ball with some thump. Iowa, where his father is an assistant coach, likes Woods as a tight end, a position that is never hungry with the Hawkeyes. He runs at receiver for West but with his athleticism and frame, he could be very dangerous with development at tight end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278802' first='Wisdom' last='Fode'], Des Moines North

Ranking: No. 3 ATH/No. 16 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Fode looked destined to play basketball in college until a breakout season on the gridiron caught the attention of football coaches. Kansas State has offered a scholarship, and Iowa, Missouri and others have shown interest. While there's development needed, Fode has a lot of potential and can be molded into a receiver or a defensive backfield on the next level. He already boasts the athleticism to be a college prospect in two sports. Fode returns kicks in high school and should chip in on special teams on the college level.

[player_tooltip player_id='848057' first='Rayce' last='Heitman'], Williamsburg

Ranking: No. 4 ATH/No. 22 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Like the other guys in this Top 7, Heitman shines on offense and defense as a prep. The Williamsburg senior-to-be also stands out as a return man. Heitman could help as a sure-handed receiver with good speed and precise route running. His long arms and leaping ability help him win a lot more than he loses. You can also envision him turning into a productive safety. He embraces the game's physicality and can run with receivers. Heitman reports a scholarship offer from South Dakota. He could add to that with a strong summer at camps, which definitely is in play with his ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='245592' first='Jozef' last='Reisz'], Harlan

Ranking: No. 5 ATH/No. 31 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Reisz lists wide receiver and outside linebacker as his positions on his Hudl page. At 6-3, 220, he's interesting at both of those spots. Perhaps he develops into a tight end or defensive end. The fact that he could potentially fill one of those positions speaks to his athleticism at his size. He could comfortable add weight and strength without losing speed or agility. He's also blessed with long arms. Reisz looks like he would fit best at tight end. He runs really good routes and boasts reliable hands. Minnesota, Kansas State, Wyoming, South Dakota State and others are showing interest in Reisz.

[player_tooltip player_id='252341' first='Myles' last='Gardner'], Waterloo West

Ranking: No. 6 ATH/No. 35 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: It could be a tough decision for coaches scouting Gardner. He's a legit prospect at receiver. Gardner shows a well-rounded skill set and speed at the position, where he hauled in nine touchdowns last season. He also could end up at safety or linebacker, where he produced 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two interceptions in '23. Gardner succeeds with a good feel for what he needs to get done on both sides of the ball. He takes advantage when he enjoys an advantage and delivers what his team needs. Gardner, who also excels in baseball, visited Wayne State, Western Illinois, South Dakota State and Northern Iowa this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='628968' first='Drew' last='Francois'], Dubuque Senior

Ranking: No. 7 ATH/No. 40 Overall

JUNIOR HIGHLIGHTS

Why He's Here: Francois is one of the more under-recruited players in this class relative to talent. Sioux Falls has offered a scholarship, and he visited Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State and North Dakota State during the last several months. Plenty of programs can use a fast, athletic tight end with a willingness and aptitude to block. Those traits play really well on defense with Francois coming off the edge. As productive as he is already, Francois boasts a high ceiling and a hunger to reach it.
