The Prep Redzone Illinois combine has come and gone & let me tell you it was a fun one. Prospects from all over Illinois convened at the Canlan Sports Complex in Barrington and showed out. The event featured some high-caliber talent from the 2025 class through the 2027 class. In this piece, I wanted to highlight some of the top performers at the event in the class of 2027.

DB: [player_tooltip player_id='1151334' first='Jaylen' last='McMiller'], 5'10" 160, Providence

A smooth, loose-hipped safety prospect with excellent transition skills. Jaylen can turn & run out of his pedal, was sticky with good downfield speed, and was extremely competitive during the 1 on 1 portion of the event. Look for him to make big strides in year two at the varsity level.

OL: [player_tooltip player_id='1335400' first='Brogan' last='Kjellesvik'], 6'3" 255, Morris

Brogan is still a bit raw, however, there are plenty of tools in the toolbox he's going to develop. He's got quick feet, a firm well-placed punch, he's an easy mover going east & west and does a good job staying patient in his pass set letting pass rushers tip their cards. He plays tackled right now for Morris, but based on his size, I'd look for him to either kick inside to guard or center at the next level.

WR: Curtis Stubbs, 6'3" 195, Providence

An athletic long strider that can go up and get the football. Stubbs is extremely reliable on the jump ball, he knows how to use his frame to box out much smaller defenders and has good body control for a bigger receiver. He does a good job leaning on defenders at the top of his route, before bursting off of them to separate late.

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='1275281' first='Duran' last='Sims'], 5'10" 155, Mount Carmel

Sims is one tough kid to bring down in space and can make defenders miss in a phone booth. He explodes out of his cuts at the top of his route and has the wiggle to avoid off-hand jams by rolled-up safeties and outside linebackers. He was dynamic at the lower levels last fall, and will definitely be someone to watch for the caravan this season.

WR: Dylan Anderson, 5'9" 160, Pekin

Anderson is a sleek route runner that used quickness and deception to have success during 1-on-1s. He's got quality hands, natural deep ball tracking skills, and shows the ability to drop his hips & decelerate on a dime. He played some varsity snaps as a freshman, look for his role to be much bigger in 2024.
