The Glenbard West 5’10” 175 pound athlete is a strong and powerful athlete who is a solid return man that is tough to bring down with his strength and speed.  At wide receiver he runs with a ton of physicality with powerful cuts making defenders miss after the catch.  Guy you can get the ball to in his hands on gadget plays.  Impactful corner that has nice ball skills on that side.  Good footwork and technique.  Might project best here at the next level.

McMiller is a 5’10” 160 pound corner that also brings value as a kick returner.  Good ball skills, breaks well, and has outstanding footwork in press coverage. Explodes out of backpedal. Uses sideline to advantage. Gets hands in batting them down on short passes.  Very smooth.

There’s always going to be big-time names to know out of Providence Catholic, where our General Manager Jake Lemming just checked out for a recent summer practice, but the Celtics have an especially talented defensive backfield in 2024 and have one of the best 2027 prospects in the entire state in Jaylen McMiller Jaylen McMiller 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Glenbard West | 2027 State IL . He’s going to be a constant presence in the rankings and plays with physicality, technique, and confidence well above the average freshman. PrepRedzone GM Jake Lemming noted that at practice, McMiller: “is beyond his years from a technique standpoint and was highly productive on varsity as a freshman. He’s got a smooth pedal, loose hips, quality playmaking ability, and an extremely competitive on-field demeanor.”

The film also shows a nickel/CB/safety with positional versatility, pursuit and closing speed, aggression and strength as a tackler, and quick mental processing and decision making. He triggers on the ball quickly in both run and pass defense and is able to play man coverage on the perimeter, where the qualities Lemming described helped him stay sticky and competitive on routes all around the field. McMiller is overall a fearless football player, and I think he has the hips, footwork, and athleticism to potentially play CB at the next level. McMiller isn’t leaving the upper-echelons of the rankings anytime soon.
