Breaking Down 2027 Running Back Film

***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription*** As we begin to approach the high school football season in late August we wanted to look back at prospects in our film room series before we do a preseason update to our 2027 rankings.  Prospects in this series are being reviewed for a number of reasons.  They blew up from where we initially had them based on camp performances, we saw them during the spring/summer wanting to dive more into their junior seasons, we were very high on them while their recruitment is not backing that up, and several of these players are making the move to a new role or school.   Today we dive into the Film Room with 2027 Running Backs!    Stonewall is ranked as one of the top backs in the class and we have expected more schools to be involved.  He has the size at 6'1" 185 pounds along with an explosive running style.  Burst through the hole and makes guys miss on the second level.  Powerful with the ball in his hands getting low and running over defenders.  Brings value in the return game and is a solid pass catcher.  Really like the contact balance here combined with his speed in the open field.     As a junior Carruthers had 1,055 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground along with 278 yards in the air. Like the physicality running in between the tackles. Gets through holes by following his blocks then making a quick cut bursting into the open field. Consistently moving the pile forward and is very tough to bring down. Solid speed getting to the perimeter. Big pass catching target that has a physical frame that can line up as an H-back when needed.     Brown racked up 1,417 yards and 18 touchdowns on 229 carries as a junior workhorse back for MacArthur. The 5'10" 195 pound back who runs well in between the tackles with quick and sudden cuts. One cut guy who hits the hole and explodes through it to the second level. Does have some elusiveness as a runner for defenders trying to bring him down. Finishes his runs moving the pile forward. Solid speed when he gets to the outside. He has a nose for the endzone!     Physically built 5'11" 208 pound back had 1,300 yards along with 600 catching it through the air. Had 31 total scores and runs a 4.5 40. Slashing type of runner who loves to take it up the middle while taking quality angles and bouncing off defenders. Runs really hard! Works out of the slot as a wide receiver showing solid hands making catches over the middle. Makes guys miss in space after the catch. Brings a lot of value as a pass catcher.     Taylor is a 5'8" 190 pound scat back that caught our attention last season and in camps during the spring. He has home run ability with his electric speed. Slippery through holes slicing being a home run threat. Despite being smaller is a willing blocker.     McMaster goes 5'9" and 185 pounds. Coming off a productive junior campaign with 1,330 yards on 182 carries. Speed back that is very quick and loves to get on the perimeter for long runs. Sneaky inside runner that has solid vision reading his blocking scheme. Can see him as a nice change of pace back at the next level.     The Glenwood 5'10" 200 pound back is a high academic rusher tht is coming off a strong season. Makes guys miss at the line of scrimmage with shifty side cuts. Can change direction on dime. Mostly an in between the tackles rusher who has some home run ability. Flashes as a pass catcher.     The Antioch 5'7" 160 pound back is coming off a junior campaign where he rushed for 1,034 yards (8.9 ypc) and 13 touchdowns. In between the tackles runner that can bounce it outside after breaking through the line of scrimmage where he turns on the burners. Quick cuts and has good ball security. Brings some power to his game as well running with a lot of ferocity.     Schwab checks in at 6'1" and 205 pounds. Big back that is physical running inside. Can also line up some as an H-back catching the ball. This might be his best asset. As a runner he is powerful bowling over defenders and moves piles.
