He had the most consistent accuracy of the day and once he got into a groove in the middle of camp, he never slowed down. He's accurate and has a quick release. His hips typically follow through and he does a good job navigating in the pocket. He also has the arm to drop ball in over the shoulder as well as put some heat on it. During the 1 on 1 section he put a few balls in perfect places that made the DB look silly. He also tested well athletically and took advantage of every opportunity. He's incredibly versatile and anytime he steps onto a football field you're going to get a show. He's got great speed and good hands which make him a threat out of the backfield. He's able to cut on a dime and always finds the open lane to pick up the extra yards. He'll be a 4-year starter at Ben Davis when it's all said and done. He was also a big part of their state title run from last year. The freshman WR made a statement early with the athletic testing and then kept lighting it up. He's quick, twitchy off the line, has good ball skills, and just seemed to love competing. He just seems ahead of schedule compared to those around him in his age group. He did a good job taking the coaching and working on specific areas of his release off the line. He's not the biggest WR, but again, he is just a freshman so he has plenty of time to keep building up the frame. I believe that I have seen Murphy work in person, and each time, the progress has been clear as day. He's slowly filled out his frame and put weight on in all the right spots. His footwork continues to improve and it's what is giving him an advantage right now. Where others are struggling to find their footing, Murphy is anchored in driving defenders back and putting up that wall. He's violent an has no issue matching the energy given by the defensive player. However, I'm so glad he came. Not only did he dominate the camp up front, test well, and then win his 1 on 1 call out to win MVP, but it was the way he progressed just throughout the camp. Early on, he was getting a feel for the guys around him and what he could do. As he realized he could take advantage of them, his confidence grew and the next thing you knew he was throwing guys all over the field. He's got an incredibly strong upper-body and knows his strengths. I know he's had success with the ball in his hands. He's twitchy and explosive. He's able to make just about anyone miss and then can re-accelerate with the best of them. Yesterday, he was on the backend of the defense and gave some WRs fits all day. He's always right in the back pocket of the WR and with his closing speed, is never out-of a play.
