Continue ReadingWe’re starting to wind down coverage of the OK-Red with part 6 in this article series. We still have 14 great players to talk about, so in this iteration, I’ll be talking about seven more players from EK, Grand Haven, Grandville, West Ottawa, and Hudsonville.
’25 ATH | Javani Overstreet | East Kentwood | @onlyvani22
Javani is a transfer from Grand Rapids Union. There, he spent time as a linebacker, D-Lineman, and running back. At all positions, I’d call him a raw prospect, but I’m very optimistic about his development. At linebacker, he was able to stop the run between the tackles with decent consistency. When there was a runner sprinting through the B gap, he was able to plug the hole, resulting in minimal yardage gained. He also had one very impressive run against Muskegon, showing vision and the ability to run hard. I hope Javani can find a role in this East Kentwood program!
’25 QB | Luke Berry Luke Berry 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Grand Haven | 2025 MI | Grand Haven | @_lukeberry12
Luke is a solid high school quarterback who spreads the ball out to all parts of the field. Another positive attribute is Luke’s calmness in the pocket. He’s not jittery in the pocket, doesn’t panic, and does his best to go through his reads and deliver. That said, I think Luke’s mechanics could use some work. His throw motion is both inconsistent and slow, while his throw power could also be improved. Luke also struggles getting off of his first read. Despite some flaws, Luke’s upside is monumental, and I’m looking forward to seeing him perform this fall.
’26 DB | Ryan Moore Ryan Moore 5'11" | 150 lbs | DB Grand Haven | 2026 MI | Grand Haven | Hudl
Ryan is another young Grand Haven player with high upside. Currently, he’s a very raw player. There aren’t many highlights of pass coverage, but the few he has are promising. As a safety, he had a few moments of good instincts that led to interceptions. As a DB, he showed decent speed and the ability to stick on a man downfield. Ryan is also a willing tackler but needs to work on running to the ballcarrier and tackling with better technique.
’26 DT/G |
Daniel Wylie
Daniel
Wylie
6'2" | 260 lbs | DL
Grandville | 2026
State
MI
| Grandville | @danielwylie_50
Wylie is another high-upside Sophomore from Grandville. Offensively, he was a passable Guard. He did a solid job of delivering a pop to the opposing defender and did what he had to do to succeed. That said, he could work on his footwork and overall aggression. Defensively is where I think the potential is at. Although a bit inconsistent, he has moments of good, fast hands and a quick block-shedding move. He was able to get into the backfield against some of the lesser O-Lines he faced. With better explosiveness off the line and much more consistent hand movement, Daniel could be a phenomenal DT.
’27 RB | Damari Durden Damari Durden 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB West Ottawa | 2027 MI | West Ottawa | Hudl
I don’t typically cover freshmen who played JV, but I couldn’t help myself with Damari. I’m covering him here because I see some great stuff, and I know he could get Varsity snaps this coming season with a great chance at being RB1 in 2025. His first highlight shows solid explosiveness off the line and good vision + speed. Other highlights show a bit of hard running between the tackles, and even a few solid defensive highlights. He won’t be a Varsity superstar at the level he’s currently at, but with a ton of work, he could develop into something very special.
’25 OL | Ferris Eldred | Hudsonville | @FerrisEldred
Ferris is another solid offensive tackle but has a lot of the same flaws as Cooper. First off, Ferris commonly flashes power against linemen who try and speed past him. He does a good job of punishing off-balance linemen who try to sneak by. He’s also solid in gap blocking. Where things get sloppy is when he tries to get to the second level and pass blocking. Better balance, fundamentals, and effort on these plays will improve his game.
’25 TE | Gibson Connelly Gibson Connelly 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Grandville | 2025 MI | Grandville | @gibsonconnelly0
Gibson is not far from being a D2 college prospect. While I don’t think he’ll receive D2 offers this offseason, he will if he has a breakout 2024 Senior season. Last season showed many flashes, showing that Grandville is willing to utilize him in the run and pass game. His blocking was decent, though, more aggression and better fundamentals would go a long way. Gibson also caught a few passes, where he did good as a possession target. I thought last season was solid, but his potential is sky-high. He reports himself at 6’6″ 215lbs. Even if he’s an inch or two shorter than 6’6″, he’d still have ideal height for a tight end. What he needs to focus on this offseason is bulking up and staying in supreme shape. If he’s able to become bigger, stronger, and more aggressive in the run and pass game, he’ll be a great college prospect.
