Our spring camp tour continued on Friday morning in Harrah. In this report, we're taking a look some of the players that stood out to us during the first hour of the camp. Friday morning was a busy one for us as we also had camp visits at Choctaw and Carl Albert. Stay locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for looks at those reports as well. In this breakdown, we have a good mix of players that we've known about for a while along with some new faces that could and should be impact players for their respective teams this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='593641' first='Caleb' last='Hawkins'] - 2025 Running Back/Defensive Back - North Rock Creek

North Rock Creek 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id='593641' first='Caleb' last='Hawkins'] was one of the top athletes in the state last season. We've seen Hawkins go to work a few times but this was our first chance to see him in pads and he impressed. Whatever Hawkins does, he does it at a high level. Whether it's at running back on offense or safety on defense, Hawkins is a big problem for opponents. That's the way it was last season and that's the way it was on Friday morning. Hawkins was the best running back in attendance and that was obvious from the first time he touched the ball. He's a playmaker that will be one of the best in 3A this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='347111' first='Jaden' last='Nickens'] - 2025 Wide Receiver - Douglass

Douglass 2025 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='347111' first='Jaden' last='Nickens'] was the top overall prospect in attendance on Friday morning. But that's nothing new for Nickens. Every time he steps on the field, more times than not, he's the top overall prospect on that field. Nickens is looking to help a struggling Douglass program get back to their winning ways. There's going to be plenty of growing pains between now and when the season rolls around. Things weren't easy for Nickens and the Trojans on Friday but we liked how Nickens responded to adversity. And when he had the chance to make some special plays, he made them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288785' first='Joey' last='McLaughlin'] - 2025 Quarterback - Harrah

The home team looked solid every time we watched one of their reps during the first hour of camp on Friday morning. And despite losing some serious production at the receiver position, the quarterback was already dialed in and looked the part. 2025 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1288785' first='Joey' last='McLaughlin'] is another intriguing QB prospect to watch in this 2025 class. From what we can tell, it looks like McLaughlin has made a huge leap forward from this time last year to where he was on Friday. He's confident, he's athletic with some size and the ball was jumping out of his hand. He could have a very productive senior season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288792' first='Memphis' last='Burdine'] - 2026 Athlete - North Rock Creek

Hawkins wasn't the only standout from North Rock Creek on Friday morning. 2026 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1288792' first='Memphis' last='Burdine'] is a perfect example of why we enjoy going to all these team camps. There are always some new names to take note of and Burdine is one of them. He is a rangy athlete that was having a lot of success on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and also at corner. On one play in particular, Burdine caught a jump ball in the end zone over a defender. The defender was in good position but there's not much you can do to contend with Murdine's 6'3 frame. He's definitely on our radar moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288788' first='Whelan' last='Carson'] - 2025 Linebacker - Perry

Perry 2025 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1288788' first='Whelan' last='Carson'] was a player that we were told about prior to the camp on Friday as a player to watch. On paper, Carson is listed at 6'5 and primarily playing the linebacker position. We're not sure about that number in the height column but he is a big linebacker and he can absolutely play. For his size, we were very impressed with his fluidity and ability to go sideline to sideline on defense. We've seen clips of Carson but it was good to see him in person. He's another 2025 linebacker prospect that should pick up interest. As of now, he's definitely a hidden gem because there's a lot to like.

[player_tooltip player_id='1161913' first='Wyatt' last='Atkinson'] - 2026 Running Back - Perkins-Tryon

Perkins-Tryon 2026 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1161913' first='Wyatt' last='Atkinson'] will be stepping into a new role this season and he already looks like he's ready for the challenge. The Demons had been led by a star at running back over the last few seasons but with him graduating, they need a new name to step up. Atkinson is that guy and he was very productive last season and the production should go up this fall. And if Friday morning was any indication, the Perkins-Tryon offense won't miss a step. Atkinson is a balanced running back that can do a lot of things very well. He put a lot of his tools on display throughout the team camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288791' first='Wyatt' last='Fitzgerald'] - 2025 Quarterback - Oklahoma Christian School

For the first time in several seasons, OCS is going into a new season with someone different at QB1. 2025 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1288791' first='Wyatt' last='Fitzgerald'] had a good day while we were watching him navigate the OCS offense. Fitzgerald has good size and can really push the ball down field. He has a decent amount of athleticism so he can tuck the ball and run when he needs to do so. The OCS offense might look a little different considering the new faces that will be taking the field, but they don't anticipate taking a step back. Fitzgerald is another new name to keep an eye on as he's waited for his time and it's finally here.
