This marks the second year in a row that I covered the event. Pennisi has grown his significantly from last year. With over 400 prospects registered for the event, I had my work cut out for me to identify and scout some of the event’s standouts. As I feverishly wrote notes, here are my scouting notes from the position group disclosed in this article’s title.

Scout’s Notebook: Wide Receivers
If there is one thing I can say about the Millville Thunderbolts football team it is that they can double as a track team.
Evan O’Neill

, a 2026 receiver, embodied this. A bit on the smaller side at 5’9″ 140lbs, O’Neill absolutely scampers all over the field. I would imagine that opposing defenses view him as that insect that is too quick and shifty for you to catch that scurries across your kitchen floor. That said, O’Neill projects as an outstanding slot or underneath route-type receiver. Used in this manner, O’Neill’s skills are a perfect underneath compliment to the state’s top deep threat in

might have been the fastest deep threat in attendance. At each rep of his that I caught, the Woodbridge native appeared to be either stretching the field vertically with defenders chasing him or creating separation as he coasted across the middle.
Taking Route 9 from Woodbridge to the Parkway we head to Irvington for our next prospect, Ian Adrien Ian Adrien 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Irvington | 2025 State NJ . Adrien is a receiver with really strong hands. As he hauled in reception-after-reception, defenders tried their best to attach his arms and hands in hopes to break up the pass. Nope, never happened; not once as per my count. Additionally, Adrien made most of his grabs exclusively with said hands….. Continuing on the Parkway South we head to Holmdel to report on Carmine Aliperti Carmine Aliperti 6'0" | 200 lbs | WR Holmdel | 2026 NJ . Aliperti is a bit bigger of a target for a typical receiver (6’1″ 200lbs) and uses what his mama gave him. I saw Aliperti unabashed at contact, especially at the line when fighitng for his release. His attitude appeared to be that he is willing to run through you in order to get to his spot and made a play for his team….. Lastly we head west to Cherry Hill West, as Brandon Johnson Brandon Johnson 6'0" | 172 lbs | WR Cherry Hill West | 2025 NJ was a prospect. Johnson appears unassuming but yet demonstrated some skills that are indicative of nuanced coaching at his position. Rather than over run and have to spin around to make a running catch on a throw behind him, Johnson seems to understand the art of slowing-down-while-buzzing-your-feet in order to adjust to the ball while he is in a full sprint.
